Palm Beach County woman celebrates life-changing $1 million win playing the $1,000,000 Holiday Ca$h scratch-off game at Publix
Florida – A Florida woman is celebrating a life-changing win after claiming a $1 million top prize on a popular scratch-off game. Yvonne Hill-Mckinnie, 59, of Boynton Beach, visited Florida Lottery Headquarters in Tallahassee on December 22 to claim her winnings from the $1,000,000 HOLIDAY CA$H Scratch-Off game. Hill-Mckinnie opted to receive her prize as a one-time lump-sum payment of $606,700.
The winning ticket was purchased at a local Publix store, located at 6627 Boynton Beach Boulevard in Boynton Beach. For Hill-Mckinnie, the $20 scratch-off purchase turned into an extraordinary stroke of luck, providing not only a substantial financial reward but also an unforgettable moment she will remember for years to come.
The $1,000,000 HOLIDAY CA$H Scratch-Off game is designed to offer players multiple chances to win, with up to 21 opportunities per ticket. In total, more than three million winning tickets are available in the game, and overall cash prizes exceed $125 million. The odds of winning a prize are one in 2.68, giving players a strong chance to walk away with a reward from this holiday-themed scratch-off.
“The thrill of winning on a scratch-off ticket is something special,” said a representative from the Florida Lottery. “It’s always exciting to see someone’s dreams come true, and Ms. Hill-Mckinnie’s win is a perfect example of how one ticket can change a life.”
Scratch-Off games make up a significant portion of the Florida Lottery’s offerings, accounting for approximately 74 percent of ticket sales in fiscal year 2024-2025. These games have long been a favorite among players seeking instant prizes, with a history of creating millionaires and supporting the state. Since their inception, Florida Lottery Scratch-Off games have awarded more than $66.9 billion in prizes, created over 2,350 millionaires, and contributed more than $20.09 billion to the state’s Educational Enhancement Trust Fund (EETF).
For Hill-Mckinnie, this win represents not only a financial milestone but also a chance to plan for the future. By choosing the lump-sum option, she has immediate access to more than half a million dollars, offering flexibility and security as she considers her next steps.
Florida Lottery officials encourage players to continue participating responsibly in the state’s games, reminding everyone that while the odds of winning a top prize are slim, scratch-offs offer a fun and exciting way to test their luck.
Hill-Mckinnie’s win serves as a reminder that sometimes, the right ticket at the right time can deliver a remarkable surprise, bringing joy and new possibilities to those who play.
