GuideWell’s 2025 Impact Report highlights new vision for a more connected and people centered health system
South Florida – A major health services organization serving millions of people across the United States and Puerto Rico is outlining a new vision for the future of care. In its newly released 2025 Impact Report, GuideWell describes a broad strategy aimed at making health services more affordable, more accessible, and more connected for the individuals and families who depend on them.
The report, titled Empowering People for Better Health, highlights how the not-for-profit company is responding to growing challenges in the healthcare landscape, including rising medical costs and increasing economic pressures on households. Through new technologies, expanded partnerships, and targeted community investments, GuideWell says it is working to build a health system that places people at the center of care.
Based in South Florida, GuideWell operates through several major organizations. These include Florida Blue, the largest health insurance company in Florida; the Florida Blue Foundation, which leads philanthropic efforts across the state; Triple-S Management, a major healthcare services company serving Puerto Rico; and Fundación Triple-S, its charitable partner on the island.
Together, these organizations support millions of members throughout Florida, Puerto Rico, and other parts of the United States. The company’s latest report presents both a snapshot of recent achievements and a roadmap for future improvements in healthcare delivery.
Affordability is a major theme throughout the report. With healthcare expenses continuing to rise nationwide, GuideWell says it has made reducing costs for families a central goal of its work in 2025. The company has taken a multi-layered approach to this challenge, combining technology, care coordination, preventative services, and clearer pricing information to help people better manage their health and healthcare spending.
Among the steps outlined in the report are the use of cost-saving technologies and innovative care models designed to improve outcomes while lowering expenses. GuideWell has also expanded personalized care navigation services, helping members better understand treatment options, locate providers, and make informed healthcare decisions.
Preventive care and wellness programs remain another priority. The organization says offering no-cost preventive services can help individuals address health issues early, avoiding more serious conditions that often lead to higher medical bills later.
GuideWell has also focused on making healthcare systems easier to understand. According to the report, efforts are underway to simplify billing and pricing information so patients can more clearly see what services cost and what their coverage includes.
Technology is playing a growing role in this transformation. The report describes expanded digital tools that help members manage their healthcare more easily. These tools allow users to locate doctors, access digital insurance identification cards, make payments, and receive personalized support through online platforms.
These improvements have already produced strong feedback from users. According to the report, the enhanced digital services have helped Florida Blue reach an 80 percent member satisfaction rate.
Another major area of focus is the use of artificial intelligence. GuideWell says it is carefully integrating AI into its systems in ways that improve service while maintaining a human-centered approach to care.
“This is a pivotal moment for GuideWell to step forward with purpose,” said Brian Pieninck, president and CEO of GuideWell. “We are building a future where care is more connected and more personal — where technology amplifies human touch, and people feel supported in the moments that define their lives.”
The company’s initiatives also extend beyond insurance coverage and medical services. GuideWell’s report highlights a wide range of community-focused programs designed to address the broader social factors that influence health outcomes.
Food insecurity, for example, remains a major issue in many communities. In response, GuideWell and its partners helped provide 24.8 million meals through food security programs and contributions to food banks in Florida, Texas, and Puerto Rico.
Charitable giving also plays an important role in the company’s approach to community health. In 2025, GuideWell contributed $24 million to programs focused on what healthcare experts call the “Social Drivers of Health” — the environmental and economic conditions that affect people’s ability to live healthy lives.
In Puerto Rico, the company has also supported programs addressing social isolation and loneliness, issues that can have serious impacts on both mental and physical health. Through Fundación Triple-S, GuideWell awarded $325,000 in grants to 13 nonprofit organizations working on these challenges.
The report also highlights progress in developing new care models designed to improve long-term health outcomes. In Florida, GuideWell is expanding value-based care programs, which reward healthcare providers for keeping patients healthy rather than simply providing more services.
By focusing on prevention and better management of chronic conditions, these models aim to improve overall health while reducing unnecessary medical costs.
Education is another key element of the organization’s efforts. GuideWell has increased outreach programs designed to help members understand healthcare policy changes and prepare for important enrollment periods, including Open Enrollment.
In Puerto Rico, the report also points to the introduction of MiConsulta MD, a technology-enabled care platform designed to address healthcare access challenges on the island.
The program is intended to make it easier for patients to connect with healthcare professionals and receive medical guidance, particularly in areas where access to providers may be limited.
The 2025 report marks the fifth consecutive year that GuideWell has released a comprehensive overview of its impact and initiatives. While the document highlights programs launched during the past year, company leaders say it also represents a broader shift in how they envision the future of healthcare.
That future, they say, is one where technology, community partnerships, and patient-focused services come together to create a system that works better for everyone.
As healthcare systems across the country face mounting pressures, GuideWell’s latest report suggests that collaboration, innovation, and a strong focus on people may offer a path toward a more connected and sustainable model of care.
