230 volunteers take part in 16 community service projects creating widespread impact across Florida communities through CPA Day of Service initiative
Florida – A strong wave of volunteer energy swept across Florida this year as accounting professionals stepped away from spreadsheets and audits to focus on something very different — hands-on community service. The 2026 CPA Day of Service, led by the Florida Institute of Certified Public Accountants, marked its largest turnout yet, bringing together hundreds of volunteers for projects aimed at helping local communities in practical, visible ways.
In total, 230 volunteers signed up for this year’s initiative, which was coordinated through the Florida Institute of Certified Public Accountants (FICPA). The program, driven by the Young CPA Committee, has grown steadily in recent years and has become one of the organization’s most recognized statewide efforts.
Across Florida, participants worked on 16 separate community projects. The activities varied widely, but all shared a common purpose: supporting organizations that serve people facing real challenges, from food insecurity to limited educational resources and environmental concerns.
The CPA Day of Service has been expanding quickly. Since 2023, participation has more than doubled, growing by over 120 volunteers in just four years. Over that time span, the initiative has involved 642 volunteers across 52 community projects statewide, showing a consistent upward trend in engagement from accounting professionals.

This year’s projects touched a broad mix of needs. Volunteers contributed to food distribution efforts, helped support educational programs, took part in environmental cleanups, worked with youth initiatives, and assisted nonprofit organizations with day-to-day tasks. The work was hands-on and varied, ranging from organizing donations to improving shared public spaces.
One of the key themes highlighted by organizers was the shift in how professionals view community involvement. What started as a small-scale volunteer effort has evolved into a coordinated statewide movement that blends professional identity with civic responsibility.
“CPA Day of Service continues to showcase the incredible generosity and leadership of Florida’s accounting profession,” said FICPA CFO and FICPA Scholarship Foundation Acting Director Kristin High. “Each year, more members step forward to give back, strengthening both their local communities and the spirit of service that defines our profession.”
The growth of the program has been steady rather than sudden, built on consistent participation from firms, individual CPAs, and early-career professionals who join through workplace and committee initiatives. Organizers say this consistency is one of the reasons the program has been able to scale while maintaining its community focus.
Beyond the numbers, the impact is visible in small but meaningful ways. Volunteers spent the day packing meals for families, sorting and organizing donations for local charities, cleaning and improving outdoor public spaces, and assisting nonprofits that rely heavily on volunteer labor to operate effectively.
While each project was different, the overall goal remained the same — to connect professional skills and teamwork with real community needs. Many participants described the experience as a break from routine work that still carried a strong sense of purpose.
As the CPA Day of Service continues to expand, expectations are rising for even greater participation in the coming years. Organizers believe more firms and professionals will join as awareness grows, potentially increasing both the number of volunteers and the range of projects supported across the state.
For FICPA, the initiative has become more than an annual event. It has evolved into a consistent expression of professional engagement with communities throughout Florida, reinforcing the idea that service can extend well beyond the workplace and into everyday civic life.
