Attorney General James Uthmeier announces conviction of Broward County man accused of leading a family cocaine trafficking network
Broward County, Florida – A Broward County man accused of running a long-standing cocaine trafficking network with the help of family members has been convicted following a lengthy jury trial in Florida, state officials announced this week.
Attorney General James Uthmeier confirmed that Teddy McCall Jr. was found guilty on every charge tied to a South Florida drug trafficking operation that investigators say stretched across several years and relied heavily on close family involvement.
The conviction came after a three-week trial handled by the Office of Statewide Prosecution. Prosecutors argued that McCall oversaw a sophisticated cocaine distribution operation, directing transactions, handling money collections, and organizing the packaging and movement of narcotics throughout the region.
“This convicted criminal made drug trafficking into a family business,” said Attorney General James Uthmeier. “Thanks to the relentless work of our prosecutors and law enforcement partners, he will face a well-deserved mandatory minimum prison sentence.”
According to investigators, the case originated from a broader Broward County Sheriff’s Office wiretap investigation launched roughly seven years ago. Authorities had been monitoring a cocaine trafficking network operating across South Florida, eventually gathering enough evidence to identify McCall as a central figure in the organization.
During the trial, prosecutors presented intercepted phone calls, surveillance recordings, and physical evidence that they said clearly connected McCall to the operation’s leadership. Investigators testified that the trafficking network involved McCall’s parents and functioned as a coordinated family-run enterprise designed to distribute cocaine across the area.
Authorities also uncovered drug-related equipment tied to the case. Law enforcement officers recovered cocaine along with trafficking paraphernalia from a warehouse and storage unit linked to the defendant. Among the items seized were two large cocaine presses, devices commonly associated with large-scale narcotics processing and packaging operations.
Defense attorneys reportedly attempted to place responsibility on McCall’s parents during the proceedings. However, prosecutors argued that the evidence consistently pointed to McCall as the individual directing and controlling the organization. Jurors ultimately agreed, returning guilty verdicts on all charges.
McCall was convicted of racketeering, conspiracy to racketeer, conspiracy to traffic cocaine between 28 and 200 grams, trafficking cocaine within the same amount range, possession of cocaine with intent to sell or deliver, and two counts involving ownership or rental of property used for trafficking activities.
The outcome marked a major development in a case that had been under investigation for years. Officials said the conviction reflected close cooperation between prosecutors and law enforcement agencies working to dismantle organized narcotics operations in South Florida.
McCall is scheduled to be sentenced on June 29. He faces a mandatory minimum prison term of at least 13 years in the Florida Department of Corrections.
The prosecution was led by Assistant Statewide Prosecutors Elisabeth Rodriguez and Jillian Tate, who spent weeks presenting evidence and witness testimony during the trial.
State officials described the conviction as another example of ongoing efforts to target organized drug trafficking groups operating in Florida communities. Investigators involved in the case said the long-term inquiry required extensive surveillance work, wiretap monitoring, and coordination between multiple agencies before charges were ultimately brought to court.
