Broward County Public Schools celebrates being named the Cambridge District of the Year while recognizing outstanding student achievement in Cambridge AICE examinations across the district
Broward County, Florida – A moment of pride is unfolding for Broward County as Broward County Public Schools prepares to celebrate a major academic recognition alongside its students’ achievements. The district has been named the 2025/26 Cambridge District of the Year in the Large District category by Cambridge International Education, marking another milestone in its long-standing partnership with the global education program.
The celebration is scheduled for Tuesday, May 26, 2026, at 5:45 p.m. and will take place at Fort Lauderdale High School. The event is expected to bring together school board members, district leadership, students, families, and representatives from Cambridge International Education for an evening focused on academic achievement and recognition.
The honor is especially significant for Broward County Public Schools, as this marks the third time the district has earned the Cambridge District of the Year title. Previous recognitions came during the 2017/18 and 2020/21 school years, showing a consistent pattern of academic performance and program strength over time.
This year’s celebration will highlight both institutional success and individual student achievement. Students who performed exceptionally well on Cambridge AICE examinations will be formally recognized during the event, underscoring the district’s focus on advanced academic pathways and college readiness.
District officials say the recognition reflects years of effort from teachers, students, and families who have supported Cambridge programs across multiple schools. The award also highlights the district’s continued commitment to offering rigorous academic opportunities that prepare students for higher education and future careers.
A key moment of the evening will be the formal presentation of the District of the Year award to Superintendent Dr. Howard Hepburn by Cambridge International Education representatives. The presentation will serve as a symbolic acknowledgment of the district’s achievement on a global academic stage.
Beyond the award itself, the event is also expected to emphasize the importance of student dedication and classroom innovation. Cambridge AICE programs are known for their challenging curriculum, and student success in these exams is often seen as a reflection of both academic discipline and strong instructional support.
As families gather inside Fort Lauderdale High School, the atmosphere is expected to be both celebratory and reflective, recognizing not only a single year of success but a sustained tradition of academic excellence within BCPS.
