Broward County Public Schools introduces a long-awaited certification program to help small businesses secure government contracts

Broward County, Florida – Broward County Public Schools (BCPS) is stepping up to support local small businesses with a game-changing opportunity. The district has announced the launch of its highly anticipated Small Business Certification Series, designed to help entrepreneurs navigate the often-confusing world of government contracting.

This free, three-part program, hosted by BCPS’s Economic Development and Diversity Compliance Department, aims to break down barriers for small businesses looking to secure contracts with BCPS, the Small Business Administration (SBA), and Broward County. By providing expert insights and hands-on assistance, the series will help participants successfully complete their certification applications and access lucrative government opportunities.

Supporting Small Businesses Every Step of the Way

For many small business owners, the certification process can seem overwhelming. This program is specifically designed to simplify the process, ensuring that entrepreneurs have all the tools they need to succeed. Participants will receive detailed guidance on the certification requirements, financial considerations, and hands-on application support.

“This series is an incredible opportunity for small businesses to learn how to successfully become certified vendors with BCPS, SBA, and Broward County,” said a BCPS spokesperson. “We understand the challenges these businesses face, and we’re committed to helping them gain the skills and knowledge needed to thrive.”

What Participants Can Expect

The certification series consists of three essential sessions, each focusing on key aspects of the process:

• Part 1: Certification Basics (Virtual) – April 2, 2025, 9:30 a.m. – noon
o Participants will receive a comprehensive introduction to the certification process and learn about eligibility requirements.

• Part 2: Financial Considerations (Virtual) – April 16, 2025, 9:30 a.m. – noon
o This session will cover the financial documentation needed for certification and how businesses can ensure they meet the necessary requirements.

• Part 3: Hands-On “Get Certified” Event (In-person) – April 25, 2025, and May 22, 2025, 9:30 a.m. – noon
o Taking place at 7770 W. Oakland Park Blvd., Sunrise, this final session provides in-person assistance to complete and submit certification applications.
