Dania, Florida – Dania Elementary School Principal Michael V. Billins has been recognized for his leadership and commitment to student achievement after receiving the City of Dania Beach’s 2026 Educational Leadership Award.
The honor was presented during the city’s 2026 State of the City Address on Thursday, October 22, at the Design Center of the Americas (DCOTA).
Dania Beach Mayor Joyce L. Davis selected Billins for the recognition, highlighting his contributions to educational excellence and his efforts to strengthen the relationship between Dania Elementary School and the surrounding community.

One of the achievements highlighted in the recognition was Dania Elementary School’s continued academic success.
The school has once again earned an “A” rating from the state, reflecting the work of students, teachers, administrators, staff, and families.
According to the city, the achievement is connected to a school environment that emphasizes high expectations, collaboration, and a shared commitment to educational success.
Under Billins’ leadership, the school has fostered a culture focused on helping students succeed academically while encouraging cooperation among educators and families.
The recognition also reflects the importance of consistent leadership in maintaining a supportive learning environment.
Rather than attributing the school’s success to one individual, Billins emphasized the collective efforts of the entire school community.
“Being recognized for my leadership and commitment to student success is deeply meaningful,” Billins said. “This achievement, however, belongs to the entire Dania Elementary School faculty and staff. We are inspired every day by our students’ perseverance and hard work.”

These efforts have helped reinforce the school’s role as an important part of the community, extending its influence beyond classroom instruction.
The award also draws attention to the role school administrators play in bringing together teachers, families, and community partners around shared educational goals.
For Dania Elementary, the recognition comes alongside another year of strong academic performance, providing an opportunity to celebrate both student achievement and the people supporting it.
Broward County Public Schools congratulated Billins and the entire Dania Elementary School community on receiving the honor.
The district’s announcement recognizes the principal’s dedication while emphasizing the contributions of the faculty, staff, students, and families who helped the school maintain its high academic rating.
