Broward County, Florida – The Broward County Property Appraiser’s Office (BCPA) is providing an essential service to homeowners in the community at the Helen B. Hoffman Plantation Library. As part of their ongoing commitment to help residents manage property taxes, the BCPA Mobile Exemptions & Education Team will be on hand to assist homeowners in filing for the Homestead Exemption. This exemption can significantly reduce property taxes, helping homeowners save money.

In addition to helping with the Homestead Exemption, the team will guide homeowners through a variety of other exemptions they may qualify for, including those for Widow/Widower, Additional Low-Income Senior, Disability, and Veterans. These exemptions can further ease the financial burden for eligible homeowners. For a full list of exemptions available, residents are encouraged to visit the BCPA’s official website at https://bcpa.net/homestead.asp.

One of the most crucial services offered at this event is the FREE Owner Alert Service. This service is designed to protect homeowners from the growing threat of deed fraud, where criminals file fraudulent deeds to take ownership of properties without the owner’s knowledge. Through the Owner Alert Service, property owners will receive notifications via text or email if any changes are made to their deed. This valuable service is free of charge and can help homeowners safeguard their property. For more details about Owner Alert, visit https://web.bcpa.net/owneralert.

In addition to assisting with exemptions and fraud protection, the BCPA specialists will be available to answer any questions homeowners may have regarding property assessments. This is a great opportunity for residents to get clarity on how their property is assessed and ensure they are paying the correct amount in property taxes.
