Broward County, Florida – The Broward Sheriff’s Office (BSO) Traffic Homicide Unit is currently investigating a deadly crash that took place early Monday morning, June 2, in Deerfield Beach. The fatal accident, which occurred on East Sample Road, has left authorities working to determine the full circumstances surrounding the incident.

At approximately 4:25 a.m., Broward County Regional Communications received a call reporting a single-vehicle crash in the 600 block of East Sample Road. BSO deputies were quickly dispatched to the scene, joined by Pompano Beach Fire Rescue units.

According to initial investigations, the driver of a 2013 BMW 328i was traveling westbound on East Sample Road when they suddenly lost control of the vehicle. The car began rotating counterclockwise, veering across the raised center median and into the eastbound lanes. Still rotating, the vehicle collided with a concrete light pole. After the impact, the BMW rebounded off the pole and came to a final stop on the south sidewalk.

Tragically, after the crash, the vehicle became fully engulfed in flames with the driver trapped inside. Pompano Beach Fire Rescue responded quickly to the scene, but despite their efforts, the driver was pronounced deceased on-site.

The identity of the driver has not been released pending notification of next of kin, and the investigation into the cause of the crash is still ongoing. Authorities are working to determine whether factors such as speed, road conditions, or other circumstances contributed to the driver losing control of the vehicle.

This incident marks another tragic event on the roads of Broward County, and the BSO Traffic Homicide Unit is urging anyone with additional information to come forward to assist with their investigation.

The crash occurred on a busy stretch of East Sample Road, which is typically populated with both residential and commercial traffic. The section of the road where the crash took place remains under investigation as BSO detectives continue to piece together what happened.

The department is committed to continuing their thorough investigation to bring clarity to the events surrounding this fatal crash.

The Broward Sheriff’s Office will continue to update the public as more information becomes available, and they encourage anyone with information related to the crash to contact the Traffic Homicide Unit directly.
