A pedestrian has tragically died following a crash in unincorporated Central Broward after being struck by a car in late June

Broward County, Florida – A man has tragically died following a crash in unincorporated Central Broward on June 28, 2025, and the Broward Sheriff’s Office Traffic Homicide Unit (THI) is currently investigating the incident.

The crash occurred around 7:20 p.m. when a 2009 Subaru Impreza, driven by Kervens Vincent, collided with a pedestrian who was in a motorized wheelchair. The incident took place near the 1200 block of Northwest 31st Avenue. Immediately after the crash, the pedestrian, identified as 63-year-old Willie Dukes, was transported to Broward Health Medical Center for treatment. Despite efforts to treat his injuries, Dukes was later transferred to Trustbridge Hospice Care.

Sadly, on July 19, Dukes was pronounced deceased. On Monday, July 21, the Broward County Medical Examiner’s Office notified Broward Sheriff’s Office detectives about Dukes’ death. In response, the case was officially assigned to BSO’s Traffic Homicide Unit on Tuesday, July 22.

At this stage, the circumstances surrounding the crash remain under investigation, with detectives working to determine the exact factors that led to the fatal collision. The investigation is ongoing, and no additional details have been released at this time.

Authorities have yet to provide any further information regarding potential charges or the condition of the driver, Kervens Vincent, involved in the crash. The Traffic Homicide Unit is continuing to gather evidence and interview witnesses to piece together the events that led to this tragic loss of life.

The Broward Sheriff’s Office is urging anyone with information about the incident to come forward as they work to understand the full scope of the crash.
