West Palm Beach, Florida – The City of West Palm Beach is gearing up to celebrate the vibrant music and enduring spirit of Jimmy Buffett at a special edition of Clematis by Night, set for Thursday, August 28, 2025. From 6 to 9 p.m., the waterfront will transform into a tropical haven for fans and community members to come together for “Wastin’ Away on the Waterfront,” a tribute event honoring the beloved singer-songwriter nearly two years after his passing.

The event will be free and open to the public, inviting residents and visitors alike to immerse themselves in the laid-back island vibe that Buffett famously embodied. To add to the fun, the City will offer complimentary cheeseburgers to 100 guests throughout the evening, including those who arrive right at 6 p.m. This nod to one of Buffett’s most iconic songs, “Cheeseburger in Paradise,” sets the tone for a night filled with music, food, and celebration.

Mayor Keith A. James expressed the significance of the occasion, saying, “Jimmy Buffett’s music has always felt like home in West Palm Beach. His songs evoke sunshine, community, and a vibrant spirit that mirrors the essence of our city. We’re proud to celebrate his legacy each year with an event that brings people together in the heart of downtown West Palm Beach.” His words capture the deep connection between Buffett’s artistry and the city’s own lively atmosphere.

Attendees can look forward to an evening rich with island-inspired food and beverages, including a margarita bar offering flights of the tropical cocktail. The event space will buzz with fun activities such as limbo contests and trivia games where participants can win festive prizes. Adding to the community spirit, local nonprofits like Parrotheads for the Palm Beaches and Manatee Lagoon will be present, fostering a sense of togetherness and environmental awareness.

At the heart of the night’s entertainment is the Parrot Head Party Band, a group with more than two decades of experience channeling the easygoing energy and beachside party atmosphere of Jimmy Buffett’s music. Led by Greg Pitts, the band will perform Buffett’s timeless hits, including singalong favorites like “Margaritaville” and “Cheeseburger in Paradise.” Their performance promises to deliver a sun-drenched celebration where fans, both longtime and new, can enjoy the musical legacy of a true icon.

Angela Poco, Marketing and Community Events Manager for the City of West Palm Beach, spoke about the event’s mission, stating, “Few artists have brought people together and lifted spirits the way Jimmy Buffett did, and we are excited to once again honor his legacy. This annual tribute is designed to unite the community with the same joy and sense of togetherness that his music inspires. We look forward to seeing everyone out on the waterfront again this year!”

Jimmy Buffett’s ties to Palm Beach County run deep, as he was a part-time resident of the area. Recognizing this connection, the City of West Palm Beach became one of the first municipalities to establish a tribute event dedicated to celebrating Buffett’s influence and contributions. Over the years, this annual gathering has grown into a beloved tradition, drawing crowds eager to relive Buffett’s joyful tunes and embrace the community spirit he helped cultivate.
