Woman dies after being stabbed by her son in a shocking Dania Beach domestic incident

Dania Beach, Florida – A tragic domestic incident in Dania Beach has left a family and community in shock after a woman succumbed to injuries sustained in a stabbing earlier this week. Karen Gottlieb, an adult female resident of the 4400 block of Treasure Cove Drive, died on Saturday, November 8, just two days after being attacked by her son, Benjamin Gottlieb.

The Broward County Regional Communications Center received a 911 call shortly before 1 p.m. on Thursday, November 6, reporting a domestic disturbance at the Dania Beach residence. Broward Sheriff’s Office (BSO) deputies and Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue units quickly responded to the scene, where they found Karen Gottlieb suffering from multiple stab wounds. Paramedics immediately transported her to Memorial Regional Hospital, where she received medical treatment.

Following the attack, the suspect, Benjamin Gottlieb, barricaded himself inside the home, prompting a significant law enforcement response. BSO deployed Aviation, SWAT, K-9, and Special Victims units to secure the area and manage the standoff. After several hours, Gottlieb was taken into custody and initially charged with attempted murder. He was then transported to Broward Health Medical Center for treatment following his arrest.

Tragically, Karen Gottlieb’s injuries proved fatal, and she passed away on Saturday, November 8. In response to her death, the criminal charge against Benjamin Gottlieb has been upgraded to first-degree murder. According to detectives, Benjamin Gottlieb confessed to committing the crime.

The incident has left neighbors and the local community grappling with the shocking nature of the attack, highlighting the devastating impact of domestic violence. Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the event, working to understand the motives and dynamics that led to this fatal confrontation.
