Three teenagers tragically lose their lives in a high-speed crash on North Federal Highway in Pompano Beach

Pompano Beach, Florida – Three teenagers tragically lost their lives Monday evening in a violent two-vehicle crash in Pompano Beach, marking a devastating incident for the local community. The collision occurred just before 7 p.m. on December 29 in the 1600 block of North Federal Highway, prompting immediate response from Broward County law enforcement and emergency services.

According to investigators, the crash unfolded when the driver of a 2024 Acura Integra attempted a right turn from a shopping plaza at Northeast 18th Street onto southbound North Federal Highway. At the same time, a 2014 white BMW M5 was traveling south on the same stretch of road. For reasons still under investigation, the BMW struck the center median’s raised concrete curb, causing the driver to lose control. The vehicle then collided with the Acura in a sideswipe impact, rotated clockwise, and slid sideways across the roadway.

The BMW’s trajectory continued off the roadway, jumping the west-side curb and crashing into a Broward County Transit bus stop. The vehicle then struck a concrete light pole and a nearby tree. The impact left the Acura with damage to the front driver’s side, though the driver and passengers of that vehicle escaped without injuries.

Deputies from the Broward Sheriff’s Office and Pompano Beach Fire Rescue arrived on the scene and immediately began extrication efforts for the three male teens trapped inside the BMW. Despite the first responders’ rapid intervention, all three were transported to Broward Health North, where they were pronounced deceased.

Preliminary reports from investigators suggest that excessive speed by the BMW driver may have been a contributing factor in the crash. Authorities are continuing to examine the sequence of events that led to the deadly collision, including vehicle dynamics and roadway conditions at the time.

The tragic incident has left the Pompano Beach community grappling with the loss of three young lives. Emergency personnel and investigators emphasized the critical need for cautious driving, particularly in areas with shopping centers, intersections, and pedestrian activity. The investigation is ongoing as officials work to piece together the full circumstances surrounding the crash.
