Broward County, Florida – As 2026 officially began, South Florida hospitals celebrated the arrival of some of the area’s newest residents, welcoming babies in the first hours of the New Year. Families across Miami-Dade and Broward counties were greeted with joy as hospitals recorded the first births of the year, marking the start of 2026 with life and hope.

Memorial Regional Hospital in Broward County welcomed the first baby of the year just 16 minutes after midnight. Baby Isaiah entered the world at 12:16 a.m., weighing 6 pounds, 1.7 ounces, and measuring 19 inches long. Both Isaiah and his mother, Donnica Hayes, were reported to be in good health and adjusting well to the exciting new chapter in their lives. Hospital staff celebrated the delivery with the kind of energy that only a New Year’s birth can bring, making the early morning hours a little brighter for everyone involved.

Not long after, Baptist Health in South Miami recorded its first birth of 2026 at 12:41 a.m. Baby Sienna was born weighing 8 pounds, 2 ounces, and measuring 19.6 inches long. Sienna and her mother were said to be resting comfortably, with hospital staff noting that both were doing well. “It’s always special to welcome the first babies of the New Year,” said a hospital spokesperson. “These little ones bring joy not just to their families, but to the entire community.”

Each year, these milestones are marked with small celebrations, photos, and congratulations from staff who are on hand for one of the most important days in a family’s life.

For Isaiah and Sienna, the beginning of 2026 will always hold a special meaning. Their families can celebrate not only the start of a new year, but the start of a new life chapter that will be remembered for years to come.
