Florida – A Florida truck driver was arrested late Thursday night after deputies discovered blood inside and outside his semi-truck following a crash in St. Lucie County, authorities said. Olson Jean, 41, of Pompano Beach, was taken into custody on an obstruction of justice charge after deputies responded to a 911 call reporting a suspicious person near the Pilot Truck Stop along South Rock Road around 11:30 p.m.

When law enforcement arrived at the scene, Jean was found near his semi-truck, which had left the roadway and ended up in a ditch. Officers reported that the driver appeared to be attempting an abrupt turnaround when they arrived. During the initial investigation, deputies observed blood inside the cab, particularly near the passenger door, as well as on the exterior passenger-side area of the vehicle.

Jean was confirmed to be the owner and operator of the semi-truck, and he was immediately taken into custody. He is currently being held at the St. Lucie County Jail while authorities continue their investigation. Officials described the situation as active and urged the public to exercise caution in the area, noting that a strong law enforcement presence would remain in place throughout the night and into Friday.

The St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Office is conducting an area search as part of the ongoing investigation. Deputies are asking anyone who may have had contact with Jean within the past 24 hours or has information about the semi-truck to come forward. Tips can be provided directly to the Criminal Investigations Division at 772-462-7300. Authorities emphasized that any information could be critical as the investigation progresses.

At this time, details about how the blood entered or was found around the semi-truck have not been released, and deputies have not confirmed whether any other individuals were involved or injured. The obstruction of justice charge indicates that Jean’s actions following the incident complicated the investigation in some way, though specifics have not been made public.

Residents near the area of the Pilot Truck Stop reported seeing an increased law enforcement presence on Thursday night. Patrol vehicles and deputies were stationed near the road and surrounding properties while the scene was being secured and evidence was collected. The sheriff’s office stated that this presence is part of standard protocol during active investigations involving potential hazards and public safety concerns.

Authorities are continuing to gather information from witnesses and reviewing any potential leads related to the incident. As the investigation remains active, officials reiterated their request for the community to report any relevant information about Jean’s movements or the semi-truck.

This case highlights ongoing concerns for public safety on roadways, particularly involving large commercial vehicles. The St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Office has assured the public that it is taking all necessary steps to ensure a thorough and careful investigation while keeping the surrounding area secure.

Deputies plan to release additional updates as more information becomes available, and the community is encouraged to remain alert and report any suspicious activity in the vicinity of South Rock Road and surrounding areas.
