Woman arrested after allegedly stabbing man during early morning domestic incident in Pompano Beach
Pompano Beach, Florida – A quiet morning in Pompano Beach was disrupted by a violent domestic incident that left one man injured and a woman behind bars, according to local authorities.
The situation unfolded shortly before 8 a.m. on Thursday near the 200 block of Northwest Tenth Street. Deputies with the Broward Sheriff’s Office responded to reports of a stabbing, arriving to find a man suffering from a wound to his arm. Emergency responders quickly stepped in, with Pompano Beach Fire Rescue transporting the victim to a nearby hospital.
Officials later confirmed that the man’s injuries were not considered life-threatening, offering some relief in what could have been a far more serious outcome. Even so, the circumstances surrounding the incident have raised concerns, particularly as investigators identified it as a “domestic incident.”
Authorities say a 28-year-old woman, identified as Marlonda Newman, was taken into custody at the scene. She now faces a charge of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon. While details about what led up to the altercation remain limited, the classification of the case suggests that those involved may have known each other prior to the incident.
The Broward Sheriff’s Office has not released additional information about the relationship between Newman and the victim, nor have they outlined a possible motive. Detectives from the agency’s Special Victims Unit are continuing to examine the case, working to piece together what exactly happened in the moments before the stabbing occurred.
As of Friday morning, Newman remained in custody at the Broward County Main Jail, where she is being held without bond. Her arrest marks the latest in a series of domestic-related incidents that law enforcement agencies say can escalate quickly without intervention.
For now, the investigation remains active, with authorities expected to provide further updates as more information becomes available.
