West Palm Beach, Florida – The City of West Palm Beach has earned national recognition for its digital innovation, taking home the Website of the Year title at the Granicus Digital Government Awards. Announced on April 21, 2026, the honor highlights the city’s efforts to create a user-friendly, modern online platform that helps residents quickly find information and connect with essential services.

At a time when more people rely on digital access for everyday needs, the city’s website has emerged as a central hub—simple on the surface, yet carefully structured behind the scenes. Its homepage places emphasis on what residents are most likely searching for, offering clear navigation and a strong search function that reduces the time spent hunting for answers. Instead of overwhelming users with layers of content, the design directs attention to key services and commonly used features.

City officials say the goal was never just to redesign a website, but to rethink how people interact with local government online. The result is a platform that feels approachable, even for those who may not be especially tech-savvy. From paying bills to accessing public records or finding updates, the experience is meant to be smooth and intuitive.

One of the most notable features—and a factor that set the city apart—is its dedicated hurricane-ready homepage. Designed to switch quickly during emergencies, this feature ensures that critical updates are front and center when residents need them most. In a region where severe weather can develop rapidly, the ability to communicate clearly and instantly becomes more than a convenience—it becomes a necessity.

“West Palm Beach’s website is notable for its bright, engaging homepage designed to make information easy to access for residents,” said Granicus UX Design Manager Kit Sullivan. “The prominent search bar provides an immediate and welcoming entry point to city services, while the playfully designed top tasks offer a clear, structured path for exploring key information. Their switch ready hurricane homepage shows an incredible commitment to public safety and resident experience — a shining example of a website serving as both a daily resource and an emergency ready response tool.”

The annual awards program recognizes government organizations that are pushing boundaries in digital service delivery. Beyond aesthetics, judges look at how effectively platforms improve access, boost transparency, and strengthen communication between public institutions and the communities they serve.

For West Palm Beach, this recognition reflects a broader shift in how cities approach technology. Websites are no longer static pages filled with information—they are living systems that must adapt, respond, and serve residents in real time. The city’s approach underscores a growing understanding that digital tools play a key role in public trust and engagement.

As municipalities across the country continue to modernize, West Palm Beach’s achievement may serve as a model. It shows that when design, functionality, and purpose align, even something as routine as a city website can become a powerful tool—one that informs, connects, and, when needed, protects.
