Davie, Florida – As communities across Florida prepare for another busy summer around pools and beaches, the Town of Davie is putting water safety front and center with a family-focused event designed to educate residents while offering a fun afternoon outdoors.

The Davie Parks, Recreation and Cultural Arts Department, together with Davie Fire Rescue, will host a Water Safety Day and Pool Party on Saturday, May 16, 2026, at the Pine Island Fitness and Aquatic Center. The event will run from noon until 3 p.m. and is being held as part of National Water Safety Month initiatives observed nationwide each May.

Town officials say the gathering is intended to bring residents of all ages together for an afternoon that mixes recreation with practical safety education. Admission to the pool will be free during the event, allowing families to enjoy open swimming while also learning potentially life-saving skills.

Visitors can expect a lively atmosphere throughout the afternoon, complete with music from a live DJ, interactive children’s activities, and several safety information stations focused on preventing water-related accidents. Aquatic staff members and fire rescue personnel will also be available to meet residents and answer questions about staying safe in and around the water.

One of the major features of the event will be hands-only CPR training provided by the Davie Fire Rescue Department. The training sessions will introduce participants to chest compressions, basic first aid concepts, and real-life emergency demonstrations aimed at helping people respond during critical moments before professional responders arrive.

Organizers noted that individuals who complete the session will receive a participation certificate. However, officials emphasized that the class does not provide an official CPR certification.

Registration is required for the hands-only CPR portion of the event due to limited space availability. Residents can sign up through the town’s online registration portal, which will remain open through Friday, May 15, 2026, or until all available spots are filled.

In addition to educational activities, complimentary food and refreshments will be offered throughout the afternoon, creating what organizers hope will be both an enjoyable and informative community gathering ahead of the summer swim season.

The event will take place at the Pine Island Fitness and Aquatic Center, located at 3800 SW 92nd Avenue in Davie.
