Broward County Public Schools to celebrate National Small Business Month with a major showcase and networking event for local entrepreneurs
Broward County, Florida – As National Small Business Month shines a spotlight on entrepreneurs across the country, Broward County Public Schools is preparing to bring local business owners, innovators and community leaders together for an event designed to open doors and create new opportunities.
The District’s Economic Development Opportunities and Compliance Department will host the Small Business Showcase and Networking event on Thursday, May 21, 2026, at Signature Sunrise. Scheduled from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., the gathering is expected to attract representatives from small, minority-owned, women-owned and veteran-owned businesses from across the region.
Organizers say the event is aimed at helping local companies better understand how to connect with the nation’s sixth-largest school district and explore opportunities within its procurement system. Beyond networking, attendees will have the chance to engage directly with district representatives and decision-makers while learning more about supplier diversity initiatives.
The showcase comes at a time when many small businesses are looking for ways to adapt to changing economic conditions and rapid advances in technology. To address those challenges, the event will feature two live workshops focused on artificial intelligence and business growth strategies. The sessions, scheduled for 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m., will examine how AI-driven tools can help companies automate operations, improve efficiency and increase revenue potential.
Officials say the workshops are intended to give business owners practical ideas they can apply immediately, whether they are trying to streamline daily tasks, expand customer outreach or position themselves for long-term growth.
In addition to the educational sessions, the event will include a business expo where entrepreneurs can showcase their services, exchange ideas and build relationships with potential partners and district contacts. For many smaller firms, especially those seeking public-sector contracts, events like this can serve as a valuable starting point for future collaboration.
The initiative also reflects the broader mission of the Economic Development Opportunities and Compliance Department, which works to expand access for local businesses interested in participating in district purchasing opportunities. By increasing awareness of certification pathways and procurement procedures, district leaders hope to encourage wider participation from diverse suppliers throughout the community.
May’s National Small Business Month observance adds another layer of significance to the gathering. Across the United States, small businesses continue to play a central role in local economies, job creation and community development. In Broward County, school officials say supporting those enterprises is not only about commerce, but also about strengthening community partnerships and creating opportunities for long-term economic growth.
With networking, education and innovation all under one roof, the upcoming showcase is expected to provide local entrepreneurs with both practical tools and meaningful connections as they navigate an increasingly competitive business landscape.
