City offices, library, and nature center to close for Memorial Day while essential services continue normal operations across West Palm Beach area

West Palm Beach, Florida – Residents in West Palm Beach will see temporary closures across several key city facilities as the community observes Memorial Day on Monday, May 25, 2026. The shutdown affects major public service locations, though essential services will continue operating on their normal schedule.

The City of West Palm Beach announced that West Palm Beach City Hall will be closed for the holiday, along with the Mandel Public Library of West Palm Beach and the Grassy Waters Preserve Nature Center. All three facilities will pause public operations for the day in recognition of Memorial Day.

Despite the closures, city officials confirmed that essential services will not be disrupted. Regular trash and garbage pickup will continue as scheduled, ensuring that residential waste collection remains consistent throughout the holiday period. This continuity is intended to minimize inconvenience for households while city offices are closed.

Normal operations are expected to resume shortly after the holiday. City Hall and Grassy Waters Preserve will reopen on Tuesday, May 26, 2026, at 8 a.m., while the Mandel Public Library will welcome visitors again starting at 9:30 a.m. on the same day.

Memorial Day is observed across the United States as a time to honor and remember military personnel who lost their lives in service. For many residents, the long weekend also marks a period of travel, family gatherings, and community events.

City officials typically adjust schedules for municipal services during major federal holidays like Memorial Day, balancing public observance with the need to maintain essential operations. In West Palm Beach, this includes keeping waste management services active while temporarily closing administrative and recreational facilities.

Residents planning visits to City Hall, the library, or the nature preserve are encouraged to plan ahead and take note of the adjusted hours. The brief closure is expected to have minimal impact beyond routine access to public services.

As normal hours return on Tuesday, all three facilities will resume regular programming, including library services, city administrative functions, and educational and recreational activities at Grassy Waters Preserve.
