Broward Sheriff’s Office detectives arrest suspect in fatal stabbing case in Pompano Beach on Sunday morning

Pompano Beach, Florida – Broward Sheriff’s Office (BSO) detectives have arrested Hermes Rodriguez in connection with a fatal stabbing that occurred in Pompano Beach early Sunday morning. The incident, which left one man dead, has been classified as a case of first-degree murder.

At approximately 8:22 a.m. on March 23, BSO district deputies and Pompano Beach Fire Rescue were dispatched to reports of a stabbing at 437 S.W. Second Court. Upon arrival, deputies found the victim, identified as Charles Scott, suffering from a severe stab wound. Emergency responders quickly transported Scott to Broward Health North, but he was later pronounced dead at the hospital.

BSO’s Homicide Unit was immediately notified and took over the investigation. Detectives worked tirelessly to gather evidence and piece together the events leading to Scott’s death. Through their investigation, they determined that Hermes Rodriguez was the individual responsible for the stabbing.

Later that day, authorities located Rodriguez and arrested him. The preliminary findings of the investigation revealed that the altercation between Rodriguez and Scott stemmed from a dispute over a lighter. The heated argument escalated quickly, resulting in Rodriguez fatally stabbing Scott.

Rodriguez was subsequently booked into BSO’s Main Jail and is facing one count of first-degree murder. As the investigation continues, further details may emerge regarding the circumstances surrounding the fatal confrontation.

This tragic incident underscores the importance of quick and thorough law enforcement response in solving violent crimes, and BSO detectives are commended for their swift action in making an arrest.
