Detectives with the Broward Sheriff’s Office investigate the fatal shooting of a man at a smoke shop in Pompano Beach

Broward County, Florida – Broward Sheriff’s Office (BSO) detectives are investigating a tragic shooting that took place at a smoke shop in Pompano Beach early Sunday morning. The incident, which resulted in the death of a 27-year-old man, is being thoroughly examined by the BSO Homicide Unit.

According to investigators, the shooting occurred shortly after midnight on March 30. Broward County Regional Communications received a call reporting the shooting in the 1200 block of E. Sample Road, in the city of Pompano Beach. Deputies quickly arrived at the scene, where they entered the Fire Up Smoke Shop. Inside, they found Sayf Abdelaziz, the victim, suffering from a gunshot wound. Despite efforts from emergency responders, Pompano Beach Fire Rescue personnel pronounced Abdelaziz dead at the scene.

BSO’s Crime Scene and Homicide Units have taken charge of the investigation. The details surrounding the shooting remain unclear, but detectives have gathered that an unknown suspect entered the smoke shop and approached the front counter. At some point, the suspect, who was armed with a handgun, shot Abdelaziz. After the shooting, the suspect immediately fled on foot from the scene.

Detectives are urging anyone with information about the incident to come forward. BSO Detective Kevin White is leading the investigation and can be reached at 954-321-4210. This tragic incident has left the local community in shock, and authorities are working tirelessly to piece together what happened. As of now, no further details about the identity of the shooter or the possible motives behind the crime have been released.
