Fort Lauderdale, Florida – City crews have successfully repaired a water main break that occurred near the intersection of NE 56th Street and NE 14th Avenue. The break, which caused the closure of the eastbound lane of NE 56th Street between Dixie Highway (NE 12th Avenue) and NE 14th Avenue, was addressed overnight by emergency response teams.

The water main issue was initially reported on Tuesday, April 30, at 5:30 p.m., and crews began repairs promptly at 9:00 p.m. As part of the repair process, the asphalt in the area was temporarily affected. However, as of now, the asphalt has been fully restored, and all lanes have reopened to traffic.

While the situation was quickly managed, a precautionary boil water notice has been issued for a few nearby properties as a safety measure. This is a standard protocol following water main repairs to ensure that the water is safe to consume. Residents in the affected area are advised to follow the notice until further instructions are provided by the city’s public utilities team.

The city expressed appreciation for the patience of its neighbors while the emergency work was completed. “We appreciate the patience of our neighbors while this emergency work was completed,” a city spokesperson noted. This quick and efficient response from city crews ensured minimal disruption to the daily flow of traffic and water service.
