Special meetings of the city commission and CRA to consider four key votes that will shape Pompano Beach’s new downtown development

Pompano Beach, Florida – The City of Pompano Beach is set to hold a series of special meetings on Wednesday, May 14th, beginning at 6:00 p.m. at the City Commission Chambers, located at 100 W. Atlantic Boulevard. These special sessions, which include both the City Commission and the Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA), will focus on key decisions related to the city’s ongoing Downtown Master Development Project.

The evening will start with a Special Joint Meeting, where a presentation will be given about the Downtown Master Development Project. Importantly, no decisions will be made during this meeting. Instead, the session will provide an opportunity for city officials and the public to learn more about the progress of the project and the various elements involved in the development of the new downtown area.

Following the Joint Meeting, two additional meetings will take place: the Special CRA Meeting and the Special City Commission Meeting. These meetings will focus on the Master Project Resolutions, including the First Amendment to the Master Development Agreement, as well as various funding options that could impact the future of the project.

At the Special CRA and City Commission meetings, several key votes will be considered. Among the most significant decisions are how to finance the new City Hall, the approval of the CRA Infrastructure Bond, and the Master Resolution, which would approve the conceptual design for the new City Hall as well as additional elements of the downtown development.

These votes are crucial for the next steps in the city’s development plans, and residents are encouraged to attend and provide input. The financial decisions will play a pivotal role in how the city moves forward with its revitalization efforts. The funding for City Hall, in particular, will determine the scope and pace at which the downtown area can be transformed, while the CRA Infrastructure Bond will support necessary improvements to the area’s infrastructure.

The sequence of the meetings is as follows:

• Special Joint Meeting at 6:00 p.m.
• Special CRA Meeting immediately after the recess of the Joint Meeting
• Special City Commission Meeting at 6:30 p.m. or as soon after the CRA Meeting as possible

These meetings provide a critical opportunity for city leaders to deliberate and make decisions that will shape the future of Pompano Beach’s downtown area. As these key votes approach, the public’s participation in the process will be vital to ensure that the project aligns with the community’s best interests and future goals.
