Fort Lauderdale, Florida – Drivers navigating downtown Fort Lauderdale should take note of an ongoing road closure on SE 3rd Avenue between SE 11th Street and SE 10th Street. The closure is part of a Broward County infrastructure project to install concrete-encased 6-6” PVC ducts beneath the roadway.

The closure began Tuesday, April 1, and will continue through Thursday, July 31. Each night, from 8:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m., the stretch of SE 3rd Avenue between SE 11th and SE 10th will be fully closed to all traffic. The road remains inaccessible during those working hours while crews complete the underground installation.

To help manage traffic flow, a detour has been established rerouting vehicles onto SE 10th Street. Drivers are advised to pay close attention to posted signage and follow directions accordingly. As always, safety is a top priority, and all motorists and pedestrians are urged to use caution when moving through the area.

This work is part of a broader effort to upgrade utility infrastructure, helping ensure long-term reliability and service improvements for area residents and businesses. Though overnight construction can cause temporary inconvenience, officials say the work is being timed to minimize disruption during peak travel hours.

The project is expected to remain on schedule and conclude by the end of July, weather permitting. Community members are encouraged to plan ahead and allow for extra travel time if they typically commute through the affected area during the closure window.

In the meantime, drivers are reminded: “Please follow all posted signs and use caution when traveling in the area.”
