Florida – Florida is preparing to observe Memorial Day 2025 with deep respect and solemn remembrance, as Governor Ron DeSantis has officially signed the 2025 Memorial Day Proclamation, ensuring the day is marked with honor for the nation’s fallen service members. The 157th anniversary of Memorial Day, celebrated on Monday, May 26, will serve as a moment for Floridians to reflect on the sacrifices made by men and women who gave their lives in service to the country.

In a symbolic gesture of remembrance, the U.S. and Florida flags will fly at half-staff from sunrise to noon on Memorial Day, in tribute to those who made the ultimate sacrifice. This visual mark of respect will be observed across the state, allowing residents to come together in unity to honor the fallen heroes of America’s military history.

Additionally, the state is taking a moment to recognize the families who bear the greatest loss. Memorial Day is not only a time to reflect on those who died in service but also an opportunity to honor Gold Star Families—the families who have lost loved ones in military service. Governor DeSantis has emphasized the importance of acknowledging these families and their sacrifices.

This year, as part of the commemoration, the Honor and Remember Flag will be displayed throughout Florida. This flag, representing the eternal remembrance of the fallen and the families who endure their absence, embodies the gratitude and respect the state holds for these heroes and their loved ones. The display of this flag serves as a visual testament to the sacrifices made, and the promise that they will never be forgotten.

Floridians are encouraged to participate in the observances, whether through attending local ceremonies, visiting memorials, or simply taking a moment to reflect on the significance of the day. Memorial Day is a time for all to come together, remembering the cost of freedom and the bravery of those who ensured it.
