Coral Springs park to receive new playground and upgraded basketball court with help from federal grant

Coral Springs, Florida – Pride Promoters Park, a neighborhood green space that has long needed attention, is about to get a major facelift. With help from federal funding, the city of Coral Springs is moving forward with plans to replace the park’s aging playground and worn-out basketball court.

The improvements come after the Coral Springs City Commission gave the green light to the project last week. The upgrades will be funded by a $225,000 grant from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development’s Community Development Block Grant program.

According to city officials, the plan includes building a brand-new playground, complete with a swing set, to replace the current equipment, which is more than 14 years old. A full rebuild of the basketball court is also on the way. The new court will feature a fresh playing surface, new fencing, updated backboards, sturdy poles, and new nets.

City leaders say these changes will make a real difference in the community.

“It’s about making our parks safe, welcoming, and fun for families and young people,” one city official said. “These updates have been a long time coming.”

Beyond the playground and court, additional upgrades are on the list. New grills and park signage will be installed, and a security camera will be added to enhance safety for visitors. City staff confirmed that the basketball court is expected to be completed by October, while all other improvements should wrap up by the end of the current fiscal year.

The project is part of Coral Springs’ ongoing efforts to revitalize local parks and create better outdoor spaces for residents. Pride Promoters Park, though small, plays a big role for nearby families, and the planned upgrades are expected to breathe new life into the area.

Once completed, the revamped park will offer a safer, more enjoyable environment for kids to play, teens to shoot hoops, and families to gather—just as it was always meant to be.
