Hollywood, Florida – Residents and commuters near Dawson Street and SW 56th Avenue can expect construction activity starting next month, as underground utility and roadwork improvements are scheduled to begin on July 7, 2025. The work is part of the District 3C Water and Sewer Improvement Project and will continue through September 8, 2025.

This planned effort will include significant upgrades to water and sewer systems beneath the roadway, followed by full paving of the street surface once the underground infrastructure has been installed. Construction crews will be on-site daily, beginning work each morning at 7 a.m.

Officials urge motorists and pedestrians to stay alert in the affected zone and prepare for detours or temporary delays throughout the two-month project. While access to residences and local businesses will remain available, traffic may be reduced to one lane in certain sections to ensure the safety of both workers and the public.

“This type of infrastructure work is essential to support growth in the area and to maintain reliable service for residents,” said a spokesperson for the project. “We appreciate everyone’s patience as we work to complete this upgrade safely and efficiently.”

The improvements are expected to enhance both water and wastewater capacity in the region, helping to modernize aging systems and prevent future service disruptions. Once completed, the newly paved roadway will also improve travel conditions for drivers and cyclists in the neighborhood.

Project managers emphasize that they are committed to minimizing disruptions and completing the work on time. They also recommend checking local traffic alerts as work begins in early July.

Residents are reminded to plan ahead and allow extra travel time when moving through the area during active construction hours.
