Fort Lauderdale, Florida – In a continued effort to enhance arts education for young people, the Genesis Inspiration Foundation has granted $50,000 to the Broward Performing Arts Foundation. This marks the second consecutive year that the Foundation has extended its support to the Broward Center for the Performing Arts, a vital cultural hub in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. The generous donation, made on behalf of Genesis Motor America and local Genesis automotive dealers, reinforces the commitment to fostering artistic education and accessibility for students across South Florida.

“Genesis Inspiration Foundation is dedicated to empowering young people to experience an education through the arts,” said John Guastaferro, executive director of the Genesis Inspiration Foundation. “We are grateful to work with nonprofit partners like Broward Performing Arts Foundation to increase accessibility, spark imagination, and bring the transformative power of the arts to more children across the country.”

This funding will help support the Broward Center’s wide-ranging educational and community outreach programs, which include arts-in-education initiatives, summer camps, workshops, and performances for children, teens, and adults. These programs aim to inspire the next generation of artists, performers, and creative thinkers, ensuring that the arts remain a cornerstone of the local community’s cultural landscape.

Senator George S. LeMieux, chair of the Broward Performing Arts Foundation Board, expressed his gratitude for the ongoing partnership with Genesis. “We appreciate the generosity of the Genesis Inspiration Foundation in supporting all that we do for students in our community,” LeMieux said. “Through our programming we are educating, inspiring, and touching the lives of more than 105,000 students annually.”

The donation was celebrated in a special event held at the Rose Miniaci Arts Education Center on the Broward Center campus. The event was attended by special guests, including Robert Vinson, Senior Manager of Regional Marketing Operations at Genesis Motor America, and Ryan Case of Rick Case Automotive Group, who represented the Genesis dealers in South Florida. The attendees were treated to a sneak peek of the Broward Center’s Summer Theater Camp sessions, where students showcased their talents and creativity. The highlight of the event was a lively and energetic performance of “Supercali-fragilisticexpialidocious” from the Young Professionals student group, who are currently preparing for their production of Mary Poppins Jr. at the Broward Center’s Amaturo Theater in early July.

The Rose Miniaci Arts Education Center, which opened in the fall of 2014, has become a cornerstone of the Broward Center’s educational offerings. It houses classrooms, a coaching studio, and integrated technologies for distance learning. The center also features the JM Family Studio, which is used for teaching, rehearsals, recitals, and intimate performances. Programs offered at the center are designed to encourage artistic expression and appreciation, providing opportunities for students of all ages to engage with the performing arts through classes, workshops, masterclasses, performances, and lectures.

For nearly four decades, the Broward Performing Arts Foundation has played a crucial role in supporting the Broward Center. Established in 1985, the Foundation initially helped raise the necessary private funding to build the center and establish an endowment to ensure its long-term sustainability. Over the years, the Foundation has successfully raised millions to support the center’s diverse programming and capital projects. Between 2010 and 2020 alone, the Foundation completed two major capital campaigns, raising nearly $100 million to renovate, restore, and renew the Broward Center campus and the Parker Playhouse, which is now known as The Parker.

The Broward Performing Arts Foundation’s efforts are vital to ensuring that the Broward Center remains a dynamic and accessible cultural resource for the community. With support from organizations like the Genesis Inspiration Foundation, the Broward Center will continue to provide students with the tools they need to succeed in the arts and other areas of life. The collaboration between the two organizations exemplifies the power of community partnerships in enriching the lives of young people and creating lasting impacts on the cultural fabric of the region.

Through its ongoing commitment to arts education, the Genesis Inspiration Foundation is helping to foster the next generation of artists, performers, and leaders. By providing the resources needed to engage with the arts, the Foundation ensures that the transformative power of creativity and self-expression reaches more children, especially those who may not otherwise have access to such opportunities. As the Broward Center for the Performing Arts continues to grow and evolve, the Genesis Inspiration Foundation’s support will remain an integral part of its success.
