Pine Crest, Florida – Pine Crest School is celebrating the achievement of 12 exceptional students from its Class of 2025 who have been awarded National Merit Scholarships®, highlighting their academic excellence and commitment to their education. This prestigious recognition is the result of an extensive and highly competitive process that begins with the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT®).

The journey toward receiving this honor begins in the students’ junior year, where their performance on the PSAT/NMSQT® serves as the initial step. From there, students who perform at a high level are named National Merit Semifinalists. To move forward in the competition, Semifinalists must meet a rigorous set of criteria, including submitting detailed scholarship applications, maintaining stellar academic records, securing endorsements from school officials, and proving their capabilities through SAT® scores that confirm their test performance.

Four students from Pine Crest were awarded the coveted $2,500 National Merit Scholarship, a significant achievement that places them among the top 2,500 Finalists nationwide. These winners include Ashwin Chawla, Annika Sachdeva, Micah Taubman, and William Wakefield. The National Merit Scholarship is considered one of the most competitive and respected awards in the country. Recipients are selected by a committee of college admission officers and high school counselors, making this recognition a true testament to the students’ dedication to academic excellence.

The college-sponsored scholarships are awarded to National Merit Finalists who have been accepted to a college or university and designated it as their first-choice institution.

The recognition of these 12 students speaks volumes about the academic rigor and support that Pine Crest School offers its students. The school’s commitment to providing a challenging environment for its students is evident in the caliber of individuals it produces year after year. The fact that these students have achieved such high academic honors only adds to the school’s reputation for excellence in education.
