BCPS students explore South Florida technology careers and meet industry leaders during TechGateway Day on November 7

Broward County, Florida – Broward County Public Schools (BCPS) is giving middle and high school students a unique opportunity to explore the rapidly growing tech industry in South Florida during TechGateway Day, held on Friday, November 7, 2025. The event, presented in partnership with the Greater Fort Lauderdale Alliance, aims to inspire students in Career, Technical, Adult, and Community Education (CTACE) classes to consider careers in technology and understand the role these industries play in shaping the future.

The theme for this year’s TechGateway Day, Work in the Cloud, Live in the Sun, highlights the exciting opportunities available in South Florida’s tech sector while emphasizing the region’s appeal as a thriving place to live and work. Students will learn firsthand about careers in fields ranging from software development and artificial intelligence to renewable energy and communications.

Nearly two dozen companies and organizations from across South Florida are participating in TechGateway Day, visiting schools across the district to connect with students. Participating organizations include Crown Castle, Impactify, Florida Power & Light, Future Tech, Kelley Kronenberg Attorneys at Law, Port Everglades, Sirius XM, Wahoo Bay, Xendoo, and many more. These visits allow students to engage with industry leaders, ask questions about career paths, and gain insights into the skills and education needed to succeed in the high-tech workforce.

In addition to school visits, BCPS students enrolled in Artificial Intelligence courses will have a special opportunity to meet with tech leaders in person. At 3:30 p.m. on November 7, BCPS Superintendent Dr. Howard Hepburn, along with representatives from LAN Info Tech and the Greater Fort Lauderdale Alliance, will visit Nova High School in Davie to speak directly with students about the growing AI field and its impact on business and society. Media representatives are invited to cover this special event.

To further engage students, the Alliance is providing 2026 TechGateway maps to all CTACE classes across BCPS. These maps highlight the locations of major tech companies in the region, offering students a visual overview of where they could potentially build their careers. By connecting classroom learning with real-world opportunities, BCPS hopes to inspire students to pursue technology-focused education and career paths.

TechGateway Day is designed not only to inform students about career possibilities but also to motivate them to consider the innovative and fast-paced world of South Florida technology.
