Fort Lauderdale, Florida – Residents and visitors heading to the beach area later this month should be prepared for significant traffic changes as Fort Lauderdale gets ready to host the 14th Annual Turkey Trot. The popular Thanksgiving tradition will take place on Thursday, November 27, 2025, at Las Olas Oceanside Park, located at 3000 E. Las Olas Boulevard. The event is expected to draw large crowds of runners, walkers, families, and spectators, all gathering to enjoy the holiday morning along the shoreline.

City officials have announced several road closures that will be in effect during the event to ensure participant safety and to manage the high volume of foot traffic. The first closure begins early in the morning. From 4:30 a.m. to 10 a.m., E. Las Olas Boulevard will be shut down from A1A to Seabreeze Boulevard. This stretch includes one of the busiest gateways to the beach, and drivers who normally rely on this route should plan for alternate paths before heading out.

Additional closures will take place from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. During this period, A1A will be closed from the Bahia Mar Hotel to NE 9th Street. Seabreeze Boulevard will also be closed from Alhambra Street to Las Olas Boulevard, cutting off another major access route near the beachfront. These temporary restrictions are necessary to create a safe race route and to allow emergency vehicles and event staff to move freely throughout the area.

Officials are advising anyone traveling in or around the affected streets to expect heavier-than-usual congestion. Morning traffic could slow significantly due to diversions and the influx of participants arriving for the Turkey Trot. Residents are encouraged to leave early, avoid the area if possible, or plan travel around the event schedule. Visitors heading to the beach for other activities should take particular care to check maps and plan accordingly.
