Pompano Beach, Florida – The Pompano Beach Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA) has announced a significant roadway improvement project on NW 6th Avenue, aimed at enhancing traffic flow, safety, and neighborhood accessibility. Construction is set to begin on Sunday, December 7, at 8:00 p.m., with the project expected to last approximately 180 days. Residents, businesses, and commuters are being notified in advance to help plan for temporary road closures and alternate routes.

The project will require temporary closures at several key intersections, including NW 6th Avenue & NW 10th Street and NW 6th Avenue & NW 6th Street. While the closures may affect travel, access to all residences and businesses will be maintained at all times throughout the construction period. Local officials encourage drivers to plan ahead and use alternate routes to minimize delays. Recommended detours include NW 3rd Avenue, NW 15th Street, NW 4th Street, NW 8th Street, and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard.

The roadway improvements on NW 6th Avenue are designed to modernize infrastructure and create safer, more efficient travel conditions. A key component of the project involves removing existing roundabouts at three intersections and replacing them with raised intersections equipped with controlled stop signs. These intersections include NW 6th Avenue & NW 6th Street, NW 6th Avenue & NW 8th Street, and NW 6th Avenue & NW 10th Street. The new design is expected to improve traffic flow while enhancing safety for both drivers and pedestrians.

In addition to intersection upgrades, the project will also include the repaving of NW 6th Avenue from Atlantic Boulevard to NW 15th Street. The repaving effort will provide smoother travel surfaces, reduce wear on vehicles, and contribute to the long-term durability of the roadway. Together with the intersection improvements, the upgrades aim to create a modern, reliable corridor for the community.

The CRA emphasized that this initiative is part of ongoing efforts to enhance the quality of life in Pompano Beach. “These improvements are intended to provide safer travel for residents and commuters while supporting the growth and accessibility of our neighborhoods,” said a CRA spokesperson. The project reflects the agency’s commitment to modern infrastructure that balances traffic efficiency with community needs.

Motorists and residents are advised to follow posted signage and remain cautious around the construction zones. The CRA encourages the public to use the recommended alternate routes to avoid delays and to allow construction crews to work safely and efficiently.

Upon completion, the upgraded NW 6th Avenue corridor will feature modern intersections, improved traffic controls, and a fully repaved roadway, providing a safer, more efficient travel experience for drivers, pedestrians, and cyclists alike. The project represents a key step in the ongoing efforts to maintain and modernize Pompano Beach’s transportation network, ensuring that the city continues to meet the evolving needs of its growing community.

The Pompano Beach CRA plans to keep the public informed throughout the construction period, providing updates on progress and any changes to roadway access. Residents are encouraged to stay connected with the agency for real-time information and guidance during the improvement project.
