Pompano Beach, Florida – RP Pompano, LLC, the master developer for the city’s Downtown Project, has announced plans to move forward with a new community center in Pompano Beach. In partnership with the City of Pompano Beach and the Pompano Beach Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA), Roca Point Partners will soon issue a Request for Qualifications (RFQ) to select a professional architect to guide the project.

The selected architect will play a central role in shaping the vision for the community center, working closely with the developer, city officials, and CRA representatives. One of the key goals of the project is to ensure the center is designed with direct input from the community. Residents, stakeholders, and potential users will have opportunities to share their ideas, priorities, and aspirations, helping to ensure the space reflects the community’s needs.

“The design concepts will be shaped directly by this input,” city officials said, highlighting the emphasis on an inclusive, collaborative process. By engaging a wide range of voices, the city and developers hope to create a center that serves as a true hub for social, recreational, and cultural activity.

At this stage, the location of the new community center has not been finalized. City leaders and project partners have stated that the final site will be determined with the community’s feedback in mind, ensuring that the center is accessible and central to the neighborhoods it is intended to serve.

The approach marks a deliberate effort to place community priorities at the forefront of the planning process. From programming to design elements, every aspect of the center will reflect local input and long-term vision for Downtown Pompano Beach. This method aims to balance modern amenities with the city’s character and the needs of residents, fostering a space that is both functional and welcoming.

Officials from Roca Point Partners, the city, and the CRA emphasize that this process is about more than just construction. “This collaborative approach ensures that any future direction reflects the community’s values, needs, and long-term vision,” they said.

As the RFQ process begins, Pompano Beach residents are encouraged to participate in upcoming engagement opportunities. The new community center promises to become a focal point for the downtown area, offering a space for residents of all ages to gather, learn, and connect. With the design process guided by the community itself, the center is expected to be a landmark that embodies the spirit and aspirations of Pompano Beach.
