Town of Davie will host Florida Licensing on Wheels event to provide convenient driver and vehicle services to residents

Davie, Florida – Residents of Davie, Florida will soon have an opportunity to complete a variety of driver and motor vehicle services without traveling far from home. The town has announced a partnership with the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles to host a special community event through the state’s Florida Licensing on Wheels (FLOW) program.

The event is scheduled for Thursday, April 9, 2026, and is designed to bring important licensing services directly into the community. Through the mobile program, residents can take care of several common driver license and vehicle registration needs in a convenient, local setting.

Officials say the event will serve up to 50 customers, making early registration essential for anyone interested in attending. Because of the limited capacity, appointments will be granted on a first-come, first-served basis.

The FLOW program operates through specially equipped mobile units that travel across the state to provide credentialing and motor vehicle services at group events. These units are staffed by trained personnel who help residents complete official transactions that would normally require a visit to a state office.

For many communities, these events offer a practical solution for residents who may struggle with transportation or scheduling conflicts. By bringing the services directly to neighborhoods and local facilities, the program aims to simplify access to essential government services.

During the Davie event, attendees will be able to complete a wide variety of transactions. Among the available services are first-time driver licenses, conversions of out-of-state licenses, and driver license renewals. Replacement licenses for those that are lost or stolen will also be available.

Residents who need to update their personal information can request address or name changes. State-issued identification cards will also be available for individuals who do not require a driver license but still need an official form of identification.

Additional services extend beyond licensing. The mobile units will also allow residents to renew vehicle registrations and register emergency contact information that can be accessed by authorities in the event of an accident or emergency.

Participants may also request special designations to be added to their credentials. These include designations for veterans, individuals who are deaf or hard of hearing, people with developmental disabilities, and certain designations associated with the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission.

Another important service offered during the event involves disabled parking permits. Permanent disabled parking placards can be issued or renewed at no cost, while temporary placards are available for a small fee.

However, officials emphasize that the mobile service units do have certain limitations. Written driver license exams and behind-the-wheel driving tests are not administered during FLOW events. Residents requiring those services will still need to visit a standard licensing office.

Fees for services are determined under Florida law and vary depending on the type of transaction. For example, first-time driver licenses and standard renewals for Class E licenses typically cost $48, while replacements for lost or stolen licenses cost $25. Identification cards and personal information updates also carry a $25 fee.

The mobile units accept several forms of payment to make transactions easier for participants. Payments can be made using cash, check, or major credit cards including Visa, Mastercard, American Express, and Discover.

These include their full name, phone number, email address, mailing address, date of birth, and the reason for their requested appointment.

Once the list reaches 50 participants, registration will close. Those who successfully reserve a spot will receive a confirmation email that includes their scheduled appointment time and the location of the event.

Organizers encourage participants to carefully review all licensing and identification requirements before arriving. Having the proper documents ready can help ensure appointments move quickly and efficiently throughout the day.

The FLOW program itself represents a broader effort by the state to improve access to government services. Operated by the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles, the program uses 14 mobile credentialing units to bring licensing services directly to communities, workplaces, and public events.

Seven of those units operate from large buses designed for outdoor events, while six smaller Mini-FLOW vehicles are built for indoor locations. Together, they support a wide range of services, from license and identification processing to vehicle registration and specialty license plate purchases.

Beyond licensing services, FLOW events often help promote public safety programs. Staff from the Florida Highway Patrol frequently participate in outreach campaigns and safety initiatives during these community visits.
