REMINDER: Broward County announces Memorial Day closures while key services continue

Broward County residents will see a number of government offices and service changes on Monday, May 25, as the county observes the Memorial Day holiday. While many in-person offices will be closed for the day, several essential services will continue, and many online resources will remain available through Broward.org.

Broward County, Florida – Broward County residents will see a number of government offices and service changes on Monday, May 25, as the county observes the Memorial Day holiday. While many in-person offices will be closed for the day, several essential services will continue, and many online resources will remain available through Broward.org.

The closure will include county governmental offices, the 311 Call Center and all Broward County Library branches. Library users, however, will still have round-the-clock access to digital services, including the catalog, holds, renewals, downloadable and streaming books, music, movies, magazines and the free mobile app.

The Homeless Helpline will also be closed during regular hours, but after-hours support will be available from 10 PM to 2 AM at 954-563-4357.

For residents planning to spend time outdoors, most Broward County regional and neighborhood parks, nature centers and natural areas will remain open. Exceptions include Deerfield Island Park, the Marine Environmental Center at Carpenter House, Markham Target Range and administrative offices. The holiday gate fee of $3 per vehicle with eight or fewer people will be in effect at regional parks, along with the holiday shelter and building fee.

Broward County Transit will run on a Sunday holiday service schedule. No Express or Breeze bus service will operate. Customer service representatives will be available from 6 AM to 8 PM at 954-357-8400, with TTY service at 954-357-8302, to help with bus and paratransit Tops trip planning. Staff will also be stationed at Broward Main Terminal in downtown Fort Lauderdale, Lauderhill Transit Center and Northeast Transit Center in Pompano Beach from 8:45 AM to 4:45 PM.

At Port Everglades, administrative offices will be closed, but marine services will continue at standard 24/7 levels. Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport terminals and facilities will operate normally, although Aviation Department administrative offices will be closed. General airport questions will be answered 24 hours a day at 954-359-6100, with more information available at FLL.net. North Perry Airport will also operate normally, with its administrative office closed and phone assistance available at 954-336-2973.

Broward County Animal Care will be closed. Emergency situations involving animal attacks, bites, injured animals or police assistance should be reported to 911. Non-emergency calls may resume Tuesday at 8 AM at 954-359-1313.

Garbage, bulk and recycling collection in the Broward Municipal Services District will continue as regularly scheduled. Residents in other cities should check with their local city or hauler. The Broward County Landfill at 7101 SW 205 Ave. will be closed Monday and will reopen Tuesday, May 26, from 8 AM to 4 PM.
