West Palm Beach, Florida – West Palm Beach is taking another step in its ongoing efforts to support inclusion and community engagement, as Mayor Keith A. James has appointed Jade Greene as the City’s new LGBTQ+ Liaison. The role is a volunteer position designed to serve as a direct bridge between city government and the LGBTQ+ community, helping improve communication and strengthen trust.

Greene, who currently serves as Director of Housing and Community Development for the City of West Palm Beach, brings experience working closely with residents, local organizations, and community stakeholders. In her new role, she will continue that work with an added focus on ensuring LGBTQ+ residents and groups are well connected to city services and resources.

The appointment reflects the city’s broader commitment to inclusion, something officials say has been a defining part of West Palm Beach’s identity for many years. City leaders point to more than two decades of efforts to promote equality and build policies that support diversity and equal opportunity for all residents.

Mayor Keith A. James emphasized both Greene’s professional background and her community focus when announcing the appointment.

“West Palm Beach is committed to being a welcoming and inclusive community where every resident is valued and respected,” said Mayor Keith A. James. “Jade’s leadership, passion for public service, and commitment to building strong community connections make her an excellent choice for this important role. I am confident she will serve as a trusted partner and advocate as we work to ensure West Palm Beach remains a community of opportunity for all.”

In her position as housing director, Greene has already worked on initiatives aimed at improving quality of life across the city. That includes collaboration with residents and partner organizations to expand access to housing resources and community development programs. City officials say that experience makes her well-suited for a role that depends heavily on communication and relationship-building.

As LGBTQ+ Liaison, Greene will act as a point of contact for community members and organizations seeking to engage with the city. Her responsibilities include helping residents navigate available city services, supporting outreach efforts, and ensuring that feedback from the community is heard and considered in local decision-making.

The city describes the role as an important part of its effort to maintain open lines of communication with all segments of the population. Officials say the liaison position is not only about advocacy but also about building stronger connections between government and residents who may not always feel directly represented.

West Palm Beach has long positioned itself as a leader in LGBTQ+ equality within the region. Over the years, the city has introduced and supported initiatives aimed at creating a more welcoming environment for LGBTQ+ individuals and families. These efforts have included policy development, community engagement programs, and partnerships with local organizations.

City leaders say that continuing this work is essential to maintaining trust and ensuring that all residents feel included in civic life. The appointment of a dedicated liaison is intended to reinforce that commitment and provide a more structured way for concerns and ideas to be shared with city leadership.

Greene expressed appreciation for the appointment and outlined her approach to the role, focusing on listening and collaboration as key priorities.

“I am honored to serve as the City’s LGBTQ+ Liaison,” said Greene. “I look forward to listening, learning, and working alongside community members to strengthen relationships, advance inclusion, and help ensure that everyone feels a sense of belonging in West Palm Beach.”

Her comments reflect a focus on engagement and accessibility, with an emphasis on making sure residents feel heard and supported. City officials say that approach aligns closely with the goals of the liaison program, which is designed to be both responsive and community-driven.

The LGBTQ+ Liaison position is part of a broader framework of community-focused roles within the city aimed at improving outreach and service delivery. These roles often work across departments, helping connect residents with housing, health, safety, and social services.

For West Palm Beach, the appointment comes at a time when many cities are looking for ways to strengthen community relationships and improve communication between local government and residents. Officials say that having a dedicated liaison helps ensure that concerns are addressed more efficiently and that community feedback is not lost in larger administrative processes.

Residents seeking more information about the LGBTQ+ Liaison program can access details through the city’s official webpage, where updates and resources are made available.

As Greene steps into her new role, city leaders say they are confident that her experience, combined with her commitment to public service, will help deepen connections across the community and support the city’s ongoing efforts to remain inclusive and welcoming for all.
