Pompano Beach celebrates grand opening of new skatepark featuring professional skate demonstrations community activities and unique coastal-inspired design
Pompano Beach, Florida – The City of Pompano Beach is preparing to welcome skaters and families to a brand-new recreational destination as the Parks and Recreation Department hosts the grand opening of its new skatepark on Wednesday, July 22.
The official ribbon-cutting ceremony will begin at 10 a.m. at the new facility located at 1701 NE 8th Street. The celebration will include a full day of activities designed for both experienced skaters and community members who want to experience the new park for the first time.
The opening event will feature live skate demonstrations, appearances from professional skateboarders, food trucks, music, prizes, giveaways, and family-friendly entertainment. City officials said the celebration is intended to showcase the new facility while bringing residents together for a major addition to Pompano Beach’s recreational offerings.
A large group of professional skateboarders is scheduled to participate in the grand opening, including Brandon “Bam” Margera, Jamie Foy, Zion Wright, Pedro Delfino, Fabiana Delfino, Elijah Odom, Marcos Montoya, Nikolai Piombo, Blake Carpenter, Christian Henry, Jake Sanso, Ish Cepeda, and BLP Kosher.
The new skatepark was designed to offer a variety of features for riders of different abilities. Built by New Line Skateparks, one of the nation’s leading skatepark design and construction firms, the facility includes a combination of street-style and transition elements. The design was developed with input from local skaters to help create a space that meets the needs of the community.
The park is not limited to skateboarders. It was created to welcome bike riders, scooter riders, and inline skaters, providing a place where people of different skill levels can practice, learn, and enjoy outdoor recreation.
One of the most unique elements of the new facility is a custom Pompano fish sculpture created specifically for skating. The feature allows riders to launch up a ramp and grind along the fish structure, connecting the city’s coastal character with a creative skating element that is unique to Pompano Beach.
The grand opening schedule will include several activities throughout the day. The ribbon cutting will take place at 10 a.m., followed by a free Learn to Skate session for beginners at 11 a.m. A professional skater demonstration will begin at noon, giving attendees a chance to watch some of the sport’s top athletes perform. At 12:45 p.m., the skate jam will feature mini contests and prizes before public open skate begins from 2 p.m. until 10 p.m.
City officials said the new skatepark represents another investment in expanding recreational opportunities and creating more destinations for residents and visitors. The facility is expected to provide a long-term space for skating, community events, and youth activities.
Following the grand opening celebration, the skatepark will officially open for regular public use beginning Thursday, July 23. The facility will operate every day from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m., allowing visitors plenty of opportunities to use the park throughout the week.
With its modern design, community-focused features, and unique coastal-inspired elements, the new Pompano Beach skatepark is expected to become a popular gathering place for skaters and families for years to come.
