Sewer pump station B-4 improvements continue as additional rehabilitation work pushes completion into early 2027

Fort Lauderdale, Florida – Work on the Sewer Pump Station B-4 Improvements project is continuing as crews carry out rehabilitation and replacement work at the station. The project, which is aimed at improving the facility’s efficiency and long-term reliability, is now expected to be completed in early 2027.

The completion estimate was previously set for fall 2026. However, additional rehabilitation work required at the station has extended the construction schedule. The change means the project will remain active beyond the original target, allowing crews to address the additional needs identified during the work.

Construction began Monday, July 28, 2025. Since then, crews have made progress on several major parts of the project. Existing components have been demolished, structures at the site have been cleaned, and new pumps have been installed.

Work is still underway to replace aging equipment and structures. The improvements are intended to help the sewer pump station operate more efficiently while also improving its reliability over the long term. The rehabilitation work is an important part of keeping the facility in working condition as crews continue with the broader project.

Construction activities are currently scheduled for weekdays from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. That schedule, however, can change depending on weather conditions or other unforeseen circumstances. Residents and visitors in the area are encouraged to remain aware of construction activity while crews are working.

The project is also having a temporary effect on parking near the construction area. Approximately 11 parking spaces along the east side of George English Park, close to the boat ramps, are closed while the work continues.

People visiting the park and boat ramp area are asked to pay attention to posted signs and use caution around the construction zone. The temporary parking restrictions are expected to remain in place as the project moves forward.

While the extended schedule may mean a longer period of construction-related activity, the additional rehabilitation work is intended to address the station’s needs more fully. Officials have apologized in advance for the inconvenience and thanked the public for its patience while the Sewer Pump Station B-4 Improvements project continues toward its revised completion date.
