Town of Davie announces Labor Day closures and adjusted operating hours for government offices, parks and recreation facilities

Davie, Florida – Residents of Davie are being reminded that several Town facilities will follow a holiday schedule on Monday, September 7, as the community observes Labor Day.

The Town of Davie’s governmental offices will be closed throughout the day on Monday. Regular operations will resume Tuesday, September 8, with offices reopening at 7:30 a.m.

While Town offices will be closed, residents and visitors will still have access to many local parks and recreational facilities during the holiday. Parks, playgrounds and restrooms will generally be available from 9 a.m. until sunset.

There are several exceptions to the regular park schedule. Driftwood, Shenandoah, Waterford and Waverly parks will remain open later, closing at 9 p.m. Pine Island Park/Bamford Sports Complex will have the latest closing time, with the facility scheduled to close at 10 p.m.

Residents should also be aware that programmed sports activities will not take place on Labor Day.

Several recreation facilities will operate under their own holiday hours. Betty Booth Roberts Park pool will be open from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. However, Labor Day will also mark the end of the pool’s season, meaning the pool will close for the season after the holiday.

At Pine Island, the Fitness Center will be open from 5 a.m. to 9 p.m., giving residents an extended window to use the facility. The Pine Island Aquatic Center will also open early, operating from 5 a.m. until 8 p.m.

The Pine Island Multipurpose Center, meanwhile, will be closed for the holiday.

The Town is encouraging anyone planning to visit a park or recreation facility on Labor Day to keep the individual operating hours in mind. The different schedules mean that closing times will vary depending on the location.

Additional information about Davie’s parks and recreation facilities is available through the Town’s website. Residents can also contact the Parks, Recreation, and Cultural Arts Department at 954-797-1146 with questions.

Holiday changes will not affect the Town’s regular garbage and bulk collection services. Both services are scheduled to operate as normal on Monday, September 7.

Residents who have questions about waste collection can contact the Town by email or reach Coastal Waste & Recycling at 954-580-1292. Coastal Waste & Recycling can also be contacted by email for Davie-specific service questions.

With government offices closed but many parks, recreation facilities and waste services continuing to operate, Davie’s Labor Day schedule will look different depending on the service residents need.

The Town is asking residents to plan ahead, particularly those who intend to use recreational facilities or need assistance from a government office. Government offices will not reopen until Tuesday morning, while many parks and other facilities will remain available throughout the holiday under modified schedules.

For park visitors, the holiday provides an opportunity to use local outdoor spaces, although programmed sports activities will not be offered. Those heading to the pool should also note that Betty Booth Roberts Park pool will close for the season after Monday.

Normal Town government operations will resume Tuesday, September 8, at 7:30 a.m., marking the end of the Labor Day holiday schedule.
