Pompano Beach Fire Rescue responds to early morning boat fire at Lauderdale-by-the-Sea dock

Pompano Beach, Florida – Pompano Beach Fire Rescue crews responded early Wednesday morning to a boat fire at a dock in Lauderdale-by-the-Sea, where a large vessel was found completely engulfed in flames.

The emergency response began shortly after 6 a.m. following reports of a boat fire at a dock behind 264 S. Tradewinds Avenue. When firefighters arrived, they found a 40-foot Carver vessel fully involved in the fire.

Crews immediately began working to bring the flames under control. Because the burning boat was docked near other vessels and property, firefighters also focused on stopping the fire from spreading beyond the affected vessel.

The response was successful, and firefighters extinguished the blaze before it could spread to nearby boats or surrounding property. The fire was contained to the Carver vessel.

No injuries were reported in connection with the incident. Both civilians and Pompano Beach Fire Rescue personnel were reported to be safe following the emergency response.

Firefighters remained at the scene after the main flames were extinguished. Crews checked the vessel and surrounding area for remaining hot spots and made sure the fire was fully under control before concluding their work.

The circumstances surrounding the fire are now being examined by the Pompano Beach Fire Marshal. Investigators are working to determine where the fire started and what caused it.

At this stage, officials are treating the fire as suspicious because of the circumstances involved. However, the investigation is still underway, and no final determination about the cause has been announced.

The incident brought an early-morning emergency response to the Lauderdale-by-the-Sea waterfront, but firefighters were able to keep the fire from spreading beyond the boat where it began.

The investigation remains ongoing as the Fire Marshal works to establish the origin and cause of the blaze.
