Free Solar Power Seminar in Pompano Beach helps Broward County residents explore ways to lower electric bills
Pompano Beach, Florida – Broward County residents interested in lowering their electricity costs and learning more about solar energy will have an opportunity to explore their options during a free seminar in Pompano Beach later this month.
A Solar 101 session is scheduled for Tuesday, Oct. 20, at 6 p.m. at the Pompano Beach Cultural Center. The event is connected to the launch of the Broward County 2026 Solar, Battery & EV Charger Co-op, organized by Solar United Neighbors.
Solar United Neighbors is a nonprofit organization rather than a solar sales company. The upcoming seminar is intended to give residents information about solar power and explain how the new co-op works for people considering solar panels, battery storage or electric vehicle charging equipment.
The co-op model brings residents together as a larger group when seeking installation services. Typically, between 50 and 100 neighbors participate.
By combining their purchasing power, members can attract competition among installers seeking the co-op’s business. That competition can result in lower prices for equipment and installation work, along with possible benefits such as longer warranties and other special offers.
Members are not required to use an installer selected for them. Instead, a volunteer Selection Committee made up of co-op participants chooses the installer.
Solar United Neighbors remains neutral regarding vendors during the process. The nonprofit also screens bidders to make sure they have a clean consumer protection record before they are considered.
There is no fee to join the Broward County co-op, and participation does not require residents to ultimately purchase a solar system or move forward with an installation.
Enrollment opened Oct. 5 and will continue through the end of January.
Residents who join will receive a free satellite review of their roof to determine whether the property may be suitable for solar power. Participants will also receive email updates designed to guide them through the process.
Solar United Neighbors provides support throughout the project, from the early stages of considering solar through installation. Assistance remains available after the system has been installed.

The Oct. 20 Solar 101 seminar offers residents a chance to learn more before deciding whether joining the co-op or installing solar equipment is right for them. The session will also provide information for those interested in battery storage and electric vehicle chargers as part of the 2026 program.
The seminar begins at 6 p.m. at the Pompano Beach Cultural Center and is free to attend.
