Pompano Beach to host free Horse & Hound Costume Event featuring Halloween contests and family-friendly activities
Pompano Beach, Florida – Pompano Beach residents and visitors will have a chance to celebrate Halloween a little differently this October, as horses and dogs take the spotlight during an afternoon of costumes, entertainment, and outdoor activities.
The City of Pompano Beach Parks and Recreation Department is teaming up with the Sand & Spurs Stables Committee to organize the Horse & Hound Costume Event, a free community celebration featuring dressed-up animals, family-friendly attractions, and a horse show.
The event is scheduled for Sunday, October 25, from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Sand & Spurs Equestrian Park, located at 1600 NE 5th Avenue in Pompano Beach.
Admission is free, giving families and animal lovers an opportunity to enjoy several hours of entertainment without purchasing tickets.
Unlike traditional Halloween celebrations that focus mainly on children’s costumes, this event will put four-legged participants at the center of the festivities.
Dogs and horses will have their own costume competitions, giving their owners an opportunity to show off creative outfits and imaginative designs.
The afternoon will begin at 3 p.m., with visitors able to explore the activities available throughout the park.
Organizers have planned hay rides, offering guests a chance to enjoy a classic fall activity in the outdoor setting of the equestrian park.
A 360-degree photo booth will also be available for visitors interested in capturing memories from the celebration. Food trucks will provide dining options, while younger guests can spend time enjoying a bounce house.
The main attractions, however, will be the animal costume contests and the horse show scheduled later in the afternoon.
The Hound Costume Contest will take place from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m., bringing costumed dogs into the spotlight for an hour dedicated to canine creativity.
Owners will have the opportunity to present their dressed-up pets as part of the Halloween-themed celebration.
Once the dog competition concludes, attention will shift to the horses.
The Horse Costume Contest is scheduled from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m., giving visitors a chance to see horses wearing costumes prepared for the occasion.
The competition will be followed by a Horse Show from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m., closing out the event’s scheduled entertainment.
The combination of animal costume competitions and traditional family activities is designed to offer something for visitors of different ages.
The celebration also brings together Pompano Beach’s recreational programming and the equestrian community through the partnership between the Parks and Recreation Department and the Sand & Spurs Stables Committee.
Families interested in attending can arrive when festivities begin at 3 p.m. or plan their visit around the scheduled competitions.
With free admission, Halloween costumes, outdoor activities, and a full hour dedicated to the horse show, the Horse & Hound Costume Event offers Pompano Beach residents a different way to spend a fall Sunday afternoon.
