Dania Beach invites South Florida artists to submit creative designs for new buoy and beacon public art initiative
Dania Beach, Florida – The City of Dania Beach is inviting artists from across South Florida to take part in a new public art project that will give the city’s buoys and beacons a fresh appearance while celebrating its coastal character and local community.
The initiative, called the Buoy Beacon Re-Design Initiative, aims to turn navigational and decorative buoys throughout Dania Beach into unique works of art. Rather than leaving these familiar objects with their usual appearance, the city wants artists to help create a collection of recognizable landmarks that reflect what makes Dania Beach special.
Local artists are encouraged to submit original designs inspired by the city’s coastal identity, history, or diverse community. The project offers an opportunity for creative individuals to contribute to the appearance of public spaces while highlighting the people, places, and traditions connected to Dania Beach.
The city is looking for artwork that represents its character and surroundings. Artists can draw inspiration from different aspects of local life, including the area’s relationship with the coast, its past, and the communities that call Dania Beach home.
Through the initiative, the city hopes to create a collection of artist-designed landmarks spread across Dania Beach. The redesigned buoys and beacons would bring public art into everyday surroundings, giving residents and visitors another way to experience the city’s identity.
The project also provides South Florida artists with an opportunity to have their creative work considered for a citywide public art effort. Each submission will be reviewed by the city’s Public Art Advisory Board, which will evaluate the artwork submitted for consideration.
Artists interested in participating should pay close attention to the application deadline. The city has announced that all artwork submissions must be received by Friday, October 23, 2026.
The announcement was published on Friday, October 9, giving interested artists two weeks to prepare and submit their designs.
Those who want to learn more about the initiative, review the application information, or submit their artwork can visit the city’s official website at www.daniabeachfl.gov/call-to-artists.
With the deadline approaching, Dania Beach is encouraging South Florida artists to share their ideas and help bring a new artistic identity to the city’s buoys and beacons.
