Fort Lauderdale issues traffic advisory ahead of International Boat Show
Fort Lauderdale, Florida – Drivers should prepare for heavier traffic and a public parking closure as the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show runs from Wednesday, October 28, through Sunday, November 1.
The city issued a traffic advisory outlining expected travel disruptions during the five-day event. Motorists traveling throughout the barrier island and along Las Olas Boulevard are being urged to plan ahead and allow for delays caused by increased traffic.
The Fort Lauderdale Beach Park parking lot will be completely closed to the public during the boat show. The closure will affect access to that parking location throughout the event, making it an important consideration for both show attendees and other visitors planning a trip to the beach.

Boat show attendees are encouraged to use the established Water Taxi and bus shuttle system for transportation to and from the event. The city identified those services as travel options while the Beach Park parking lot is unavailable to the public.
For people preparing to attend, transportation planning will be part of navigating the event. The advisory directs visitors toward the available shuttle and water transportation network as increased traffic is expected on surrounding routes.
The city’s warning also applies to motorists whose trips take them through the affected area during the show. Drivers commuting along Las Olas Boulevard or elsewhere on the barrier island should account for the possibility of slower travel when arranging their schedules.

Fort Lauderdale Police Department personnel will be assigned to posts throughout the event to assist with vehicular and pedestrian traffic. Their presence will support traffic management as attendees travel to and from the show and pedestrians move through the area.
The parking closure, anticipated congestion and police traffic assignments will accompany the event’s Wednesday-through-Sunday schedule. Anyone planning to visit the area during that period should consider how the boat show may affect their usual travel and parking arrangements.
