Pine Crest Middle School chorus members celebrate a once in a lifetime performance on stage at Carnegie Hall

Pine Crest, Florida – Students from Pine Crest Middle School recently experienced a musical journey they will never forget, traveling to New York City for a performance tour that culminated in an unforgettable appearance at the world-famous Carnegie Hall.

The chorus members had the rare honor of performing under the direction of the acclaimed choral conductor Dr. Brandon Boyd. Singing on one of the most prestigious stages in the world marked a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for the young performers, many of whom were stepping into the national spotlight for the very first time.

But the experience didn’t stop there. During their time in the Big Apple, the students were immersed in the heart of Broadway. They attended a dazzling performance of The Lion King and participated in a private workshop with a veteran cast member of the hit musical. “The Lion King” performer shared stories and advice from an incredible 24-year career and over 8,000 shows — providing students with an inside look at what it takes to succeed in the world of professional theater.

The group also explored some of New York’s most iconic destinations. From taking in sweeping views at Top of the Rock to enjoying a meal at Ellen’s Stardust Diner — where the waitstaff double as live singers — the students were constantly surrounded by music and inspiration.

While performing at Carnegie Hall was certainly the highlight, the tour served a deeper purpose. It offered students a hands-on educational experience that extended beyond the classroom. By engaging with seasoned professionals and witnessing live performances, they gained new perspectives on music, performance, and storytelling.

“This tour was a milestone performance opportunity and an enriching educational experience, offering students first-hand exposure to the professional world of music and theater,” the school shared.
