Adam Cervera officially joins the Broward County School Board following a formal swearing-in ceremony in Fort Lauderdale
Fort Lauderdale, Florida – A new chapter began for Broward County Public Schools on Friday, May 2, as Adam Cervera, Esq., was formally sworn in as the newest member of the Broward County School Board. The ceremony, held at the Kathleen C. Wright Administration Center, marked Cervera’s official start representing District 6 following his appointment by Florida Governor Ron DeSantis on April 24, 2025.
Cervera, who now fills the seat vacated by former School Board Member Brenda Fam, Esq., was joined at the event by fellow School Board members, district administrators, and Superintendent Dr. Howard Hepburn. The midday ceremony brought local education leaders together to welcome the new member, recognize his service ahead, and emphasize the important role he will play in shaping policy for one of the nation’s largest school districts.
The ceremony took place in the Boardroom of the Administration Center at 12:30 p.m. and was also livestreamed to allow broader public participation via becon.tv/swearing-inceremony. Community members, educators, and families tuned in to witness the moment Cervera raised his right hand and took the oath of office.
With his appointment now official, Cervera assumes full responsibilities as the School Board representative for District 6. His duties include working with other board members and district leadership to oversee school policy, student achievement goals, and budgetary decisions that impact more than 250,000 students across Broward County.
Cervera brings legal experience and a dedication to public service to the position. Though his full agenda has yet to be shared, community members expect his leadership to reflect a strong commitment to academic success, safety, and transparent governance.
The district expressed enthusiasm about the appointment and thanked former member Brenda Fam for her contributions. “With Mr. Cervera now officially on the Board, we look forward to the continued work of serving our schools and families,” said one district official following the ceremony.
As Cervera steps into this new role, all eyes will be on how he helps guide Broward County Public Schools forward in the months and years ahead.
