Broward County, Florida – Broward County Public Schools (BCPS) is gearing up to recognize some of its most dedicated community members during the 2025 Community Involvement Awards. Set to take place on Thursday, May 22, at 10 a.m. at the Lauderhill Performing Arts Center, the event will highlight the critical role that volunteers, mentors, partners, and organizations play in shaping student success.

This year’s theme, “Catch The Spirit,” aims to shine a light on those who go above and beyond to support local schools and students. From offering mentorship and guidance to organizing resources and programs, the honorees represent a wide network of individuals and groups who have made a significant difference in the lives of young people throughout the district.

“This is one of the most important events of the year for us,” said officials from BCPS. “It’s a time when we can pause to truly recognize and celebrate the heart of our community — the people who give so much of themselves for the benefit of our students.”

The ceremony is expected to draw hundreds, including School Board members, BCPS Superintendent, district administrators, staff, families, and students. More than 200 nominees will be recognized for their dedication and commitment, and nearly 300 students will take part in live performances to entertain and inspire the audience throughout the event.

The Community Involvement Awards are a combined effort between the BCPS Office of Academics, Office of Communications and Legislative Affairs, and the Office of Student Services Initiatives. Together, these departments have worked to ensure that this event is not only a celebration but also a reflection of the district’s core values: service, collaboration, and community engagement.

“This event brings people together and reminds us that education is not a solo journey,” said a BCPS spokesperson. “It takes a village — and these volunteers and partners are proof of just how strong and committed our village is.”

Sponsors for this year’s event include BrightStar Credit Union and After School Programs, both of which have been longstanding supporters of educational initiatives in the district. Their support helps make the awards ceremony possible and underscores the importance of public-private partnerships in education.

The impact of those being honored stretches far beyond the school walls. Mentors provide essential guidance to students who may lack role models. Volunteers donate their time to assist with school functions, tutoring, and classroom needs. Community partners often contribute resources and funding that expand learning opportunities and help close achievement gaps.

As BCPS continues to grow and evolve, its connection to the surrounding community remains a foundation for success. Events like the Community Involvement Awards not only recognize past contributions but also inspire continued support.
