Hollywood, Florida – The City of Hollywood is inviting local residents to apply for a position on the Affordable Housing Advisory Committee (AHAC), a vital group that helps shape the city’s housing policies and supports meeting state requirements. This committee plays a crucial role in addressing the city’s housing challenges, particularly in ensuring the availability of affordable housing options for residents.

The city is specifically looking for applicants with experience in various sectors, including residential homebuilding, banking or mortgage lending related to affordable housing, labor or construction trades, and those who provide affordable rental housing. This includes professionals such as home rehab contractors, subcontractors, engineers, architects, property owners, and managers involved in programs like housing tax credits, State Apartment Incentive Loan (SAIL) funding, and the State Housing Initiatives Partnership (SHIP) program.

“Affordable housing is critical to the well-being of our community, and we need individuals with expertise to help us develop thoughtful solutions,” said a city representative. “If you have experience in any of these areas and want to make a meaningful contribution to shaping our housing policies, we encourage you to apply.”

In addition to professionals in housing and construction, members of Hollywood’s Local Planning Agency are also encouraged to apply. These individuals can provide valuable insight into the planning and development processes, ensuring that housing initiatives align with the city’s broader goals and community needs.

Those selected to serve on the AHAC will have the opportunity to work directly with local leaders and other stakeholders to create affordable housing solutions that benefit the entire community.

“Your involvement could make a real difference in the way affordable housing is developed and managed in Hollywood,” the representative added. “By working together, we can help shape the future of housing in our city.”
