Hollywood, Florida – As federal SNAP benefits remain paused and the ongoing government shutdown continues to strain household budgets, the City of Hollywood is reminding residents that help is available to ensure no one goes hungry. With rising concerns about food insecurity, local officials are emphasizing the importance of community support and access to nutritious meals and groceries for families across the city.

“The City of Hollywood’s Community Development Division recognizes that access to nutritious food is essential for every resident, especially during times when SNAP benefits are delayed or temporarily unavailable,” city officials said. “Our team is committed to ensuring that individuals and families who rely on these benefits do not go hungry.”

The Coordinating Council of Broward (CCB) has compiled a comprehensive list of more than 140 food distribution locations throughout the county to help residents in need. Hollywood is home to numerous organizations providing free meals, groceries, and pantry services, making it easier for families to access assistance without traveling long distances.

Among the city’s food assistance locations, Broward Outreach Centers at 2056 Scott Street provides regular meal services, while Faith & Life Fellowship Church, located at 121 S 24th Avenue, hosts drive-through and walk-up food distributions on the 2nd and 4th Saturday of each month from 9 AM to 12 PM. Residents can also visit the Global Village Impact Pantry at 2349 Taylor Street, which operates Fridays from 9 AM to 12 PM for walk-up service.

For hot meals, the Jubilee Center of South Broward at 2020 Scott Street serves meals Monday through Friday from 11 AM to 12 PM, while Hollywood Hills United Methodist Church offers similar meal services for the community. Food pantry services are available at Sheridan Hills Baptist Church, Calvary Christian Academy Church Pantry, and Hollywood Community Church’s Open Heart Food Pantry, with the latter providing support on Saturdays from 7 AM until supplies run out.

Other key resources include the Liberia Economic & Social Development Corporation at 3220 N 24th Avenue, which operates Tuesday through Thursday from 9:30 AM to 12:30 PM, helping residents apply for government programs and access free food. The Mobile School Pantry serves students and families in low-income schools Tuesdays and Fridays from 3 PM to 5:30 PM by appointment.

Additional assistance is available through the Community Enhancement Collaboration (CEC) at 5648 Wiley Street, offering a Client Choice Food Pantry on Mondays, a Senior Shopping Program on Tuesdays, and Drive-Thru Mobile Food Distribution on Fridays. Residents are advised to bring identification to access these services. Other organizations such as Harvest Time Church of Jesus Christ Apostolic, Boys & Girls Clubs of Broward County Hollywood Club, Metropolitan Baptist Church, and New Hope Missionary Baptist Church provide meals and snacks at various times throughout the week.

“Community Development is here to help those in need during these difficult times, including our own staff who may be facing hardship,” officials said. “Through compassion and collaboration, we continue working together to ensure that everyone in Hollywood has access to the support and nourishment they need.”
